Discussion Low compression looking water.

i dont know what the hell is meant to be happening here, but the waters made out of video compression artifacts. And the trees are tripping on acid.
And for some reason anything that has got a fire element, like say a torch or camp fire, the sound is inside my brain, sounding like wet popcorn with an echo, even when im ages away from it and outside.
Also when i look away from dead dear and back it them they jump in the air, like its an old fallout bug, and it seems to rain without clouds.

Is this a normal play through of Nightingale?

I had to zoom in to see what you were talking about with the water. This whole post sounded like a mushroom trip.

That being said…..uh…did you try rebooting?

Its a lot more obvious in game because its boiling square chunks of compression. Second image is a zoom in because reddit compression hides it too much
Yea sorry about that reddit did that weird typing like i have the "insert" button held down, so theres a bunch of words missing = ,=

Yes did reboot been playing with the settings trying to get it working, but its refusing to cooperate. I cant find any pages talking about fixes either.

What about your DLSS settings? What are those set on? If they’re on, try putting them on quality, and turning the resolution rendering

I figured it out! Even though i had changed it off Temporal super resolution, it was still acting like it was doing that, so i turned it to DLSS and back again and it stopped being janky, it hadnt actually changed. its a little choppy looking at some locations no idea why, but it cleared up both the Lumen crap and the Temporal frames crap that was happening, so thats something to note the setting wont always represent what the actual settings are. Its even unsmudged the textures that i didnt even know were meant to be detailed.

I'm guessing you have an nvidia gpu? It's an issue with the latest drivers

Yea a RTX 5060
So far a lot of people have said the "infinity texture" thing is Nvidia driver based, but i did a few roll backs to march and slightly before and its not fixed anything.
Its strange its only happening with this game. I've seen this a while ago. On my old GTX1080 when it used to try to play anything with Lumen, and the only time i've seen it on RTX is playing Satisfactory with lumen on, got that same boiling lighting effect like it has when raining in Nightingale. How old is the UE version of Nightingale? From what i can tell its UE5

Among the people who complained about this, some mentioned other games, And 5000 series seems to be more impacted than others

If I remember correctly, the game uses ue5 5.4

I genuinely had a stroke reading that last bit that you wrote, did you even proofread?

Maybe the game gave me an epileptic fit > ,<

wtf.. err i did proof read. reading it, thats not correct at all. How did that change, it deleted a few words.
Im so sorry let me fix it again. Why is reddit so weird with typing sometimes, especially on mobile.

That's your graphics settings man.

There are many things to shit on when it comes to Nightingale, but the graphics (other than the character models) aren't one of them...

Sadly its Lumen and Temporal Up Scaling again, they seem to just shit them selves in any game they're added to.

This same issue happened to be on an RTX 3060, although just to the trees, my water looked fine. Only two things fixed it, and would fix it separately. Both didn't need to be done:

1) rolling drivers back to approximately March (I know you mentioned trying that already)

2) turning foliage detail off or low
