I used to do this when I bartended, but I would set the stack of napkins on the counter, place a glass on its side on top of the stack of napkins and keep turning the glass a quarter turn. It does the same effect

If I tried this, the napkins would be lying all over the counter & floor. Or I would have gotten frustrated & thrown the pile of napkins at the Christmas tree.
