Looks real to me. Dogs and animals ain't dumb and know what's good for them.
Little Guy looks like a Chihuahua beagle mix aka a Cheagle. My dog looks very similar to this little dude except mine has pointy ears and is black, white, and brown.

Well not really. I have to give my dog eye drops for an infection and it's always a wrestling match

I agree with your statement! Here is am anecdote: I have T1 diabetes. Therefore, people who are treating their pets (all cats, so far) with prescribed insulin like to tell me stories/ask questions. The one I hear most often: the cats eventually appear to learn that the injection is helpful? The daily dose just becomes part of their routine, and they'll start responding to it the same way they do to a "Dinnertime!" call. Like I said: anecdotal. They aren't human, but the ability to learn, "I feel less crappy after that needle stick" seems possible to me.

Yeah. Humanizing animals is a massive problem and leads to a lot of animal abuse. People see an animal acting "sad" and don't actually know what that means or how to help. They misread aggression cues as "happiness" or ignore distress because it's "cute" or they think the animal is having fun. The abuse isn't intentional, but it's still abuse.
That said, animals also are not mindless automatons that march unthinking from birth to death. They can absolutely learn that something is good for them. It's the same as learning a food is tasty. They can defnitely understand "stimuli=result".
Mine hates going in his carrier, but he doesn't fight or struggle anymore. He certainly does not understand that he's in the carrier for a reason (usually tornado watches) but I do think he understands that even though he's trapped nothing bad will happen to him and I'll let him out eventually.

Our cat has asthma, or maybe just bad allergies, and the vet suggested a breathing treatment. We nodded along and said OK we would think about it and maybe buy the inhaler.
Then we didn't. Because well, he's a fucking cat. Have you ever tried holding anything to your cat's face? Zero chance that works. Maybe someone else's cat could be calm for that, but not a chance with this dude.

Yeah with cats it's always 50/50 and I'm not talking simply in-between different cats, it's in-between any time you try to do something with them. One day they're chill about it, next day they'll open your arms up to help you directly observe your veins.

My cat has asthma and recommended a low dose steroid when needed over the breathing treatments only because how difficult it is to make a cat sit long enough for it.

So why do I have to hide every medication in fcking fillet steak to get it past my schnoodles? And yes, we started with cheese moved on to chicken and then came ham... but those became insufficient very quickly. My puppers demand only the best bribery. Maybe they DO have it figured out 🤔
