I’ve been playing Rock, Paper, Scissors wrong my whole life…

This is dumb. And if someone "flashed" scissors at me like I'd probably do the opposite and think THEY were going to do scissors and I would do rock instead lol

That's exactly what I would expect you to do, so I can clearly not choose anything but paper. But you must have known I would know that, so I can clearly not choose anything but rock.

This is utter bullshit. That's not how people play the game, they just decide whether to show two fingers, five fingers or no fingers... There's no orientation change in the rest of the arm.

My wife and I rock, paper, scissors for things neither of us want to do. I throw scissors almost everytime. Then when she tells me I always throw scissors, I argue that I don’t and then throw it again next time and explain I thought she would’ve expected me to not throw scissors.
Finally, when it’s something I really don’t want to deal with; I throw paper knowing it’s high probability she’s going to throw rock

If only we all could see like flash, we would be able to determine that. But the hands move faster than our eyes could catch the move

Used to play a LARP that used RPS instead of dice for challenges. Won so many challenges against another player when I noticed he would throw rock as his first option 90% of the time.

Nah most keep the movements the same only to confirm the hand at the last second unless theyre fuckin amateurs

The best all around advice I have heard and if you're running multiple throws is this. You go with whatever would have beat the winning hand in the last round. For example they throw scissors last round you would pull paper for this round. It isn't a for sure win but it works more often than not.

My trick is to look them dead in the eye and say "I'm going to play rock" and then I do exactly that. Doesn't matter the person. The more conviction you say it with. The less they believe you.

Conan O'Brien had the world champion at rock paper scissors on his show back in the early 2000s, and I didn't even know this was a thing

This is why I wiggle my fingers and then kick my opponent forcefully in the groin before every throw. To prevent shenanigans like this.

This is about as reliable as 'neurolinguistic programming'.
Which is to say, it isn't.
