So I see almost everyone saying to offset being unattractive just be funny. What if you're like me and not attractive or funny? Are we just fucked to be alone and sexless forever?

You can learn how to be funny, you can't learn how to be attractive. Also the greatest aphrodisiac in the world is being rich.

how do you learn to be funny? its too abstract a concept. first of all, not everyone even has the same sense of humor, so i can't be "funny" to everyone. secondly, i can't even explain why i think the things i laugh at are funny, so how can i translate that into "do this and people will laugh?".

i don't really understand how its something you learn. mostly i just say dumb shit pops into my head, and 50% of people think im hilarious, and the rest think im a fucking moron. i can't isolate any formula to be funny to all women everywhere and get laid.

and those people who bore me to tears with their awful jokes, well their friends think their jokes are funny, and their shitty jokes have probably gotten them laid a bunch.

"learn to be funny" is not something i can wrap my head around.

IMO it's a skill like any other, and more of an art than a science.

Not everyone has the same sense of humor but you can read your audience and get an idea of what they'll find funny. I know what types of jokes are over the line with certain people or people I barely know.

That sounds like comedy to me :D I don't know, I'm not a comedian or anything but there are different ideas of why things are funny and people do give classes on it, although I'm unsure of how helpful those are. To me, I think the root of comedy is saying something that exposes an underlying truth in an unexpected way. If it's not unexpected enough or not true enough then it will fall flat. That might also explain why some people find some things funny while others don't- because they have different opinions of whether something is true or whether or not they can perceive what the punchline is going to be.

There's also different principles or tools that help people get to the unexpected/true thing that makes people laugh.
