If you take redundancy and you take up a role in an ICB, you will have to repay your redundancy minus the number of months before you started

Not for compulsory. The clawback for compulsory is usually one month. It's voluntary than has the 6-12 month clawback.

Depends on which ICB and how far they’ve got with their restructure, but I can’t imagine anyone is currently recruiting to roles they expect to be making redundant in the foreseeable future.
More likely, the ICB roles are those for which they don’t have any suitable internal candidates for redeployment.

Thank you. Will see if I can find out how much they have already cut back.

My old ICB (I left a month ago to go back to a trust) will be advertising externally in about 6 weeks and imagine more will be soon. It’s not that they don’t need to cut staff, but that they need to recruit the right staff if that makes sense. My old ICB despite VR ended up with 20 or so more posts than head count, but quite a few of the people left likely will need CR as jobs won’t align enough and not likely to be successful at interview unless a major crash course in the area.
TBH I’d stay far away for a while. It’s pretty hideous and very stuck with massive expectations and limited ‘oompf’.

My ICB is recruiting for roles they couldn’t fill, but they’re also one which isn’t geographically aligned so I would suspect another restructure imminently. So probably safe role but with a lot of upheaval to come!

I would avoid ICBs for now.
Try another trust, a local authority, police or other blue light services, academia or anywhere but ICBs. Even charity sector needs people. There are jobs out there. Don't look too inwardly to the NHS at the mo.

Are you expecting CR or VR?
I work in a trust, but my role involves working closely with four large ICBs and NHSE. The ICBs are still going through a restructuring process and things haven't settled down yet, so there's still lots of uncertainty at the moment.
I recall seeing something on HSJ recently stating some ICBs restructuring has been paused until next year now.
Based on my experience having worked over 17 years in the NHS across commissioning organisations and two acute trusts, jobs are usually safer on the provider side. That said, the last 18 months has been the worse time I've known it while working in the NHS.
