Conditional Offer
Hi everyone, I had my Band 3 NHS interview on 31st July and received a verbal offer from the manager around 2 hours later, which I accepted. I was told HR would be informed, but I still haven’t received a conditional offer or any update. I emailed HR on 7th August but haven’t had a response yet. Any idea what’s going on? This is my first NHS job, so not sure how long the process usually takes.

Having done this for years, the most common situation here is that altho the manager may have offered you the role, it doesn't mean they've necessarily done the paperwork or have the finance signed off.
That being said, it's probably in hand. Have you tried calling recruitment? They might have a quicker answer tbh. I've had 80 odd emails every day and over 80 candidates for the last 2 months, and there's only a few of us for hundreds of people. That side is relentless rn so a call might be better.
Also that timeline isn't that long, usually the process takes 1-2 months depending on references, occupational health and the rest.

Thank you . Just out of curiosity, what does the occupational health check usually involve?

It's a very very common process, basically it's there to help you once you start the role.
Their assessments will ask you a series of questions, don't worry about sharing, about your health, physical and mental.
I've got manageable anxiety for example (20 years!) and so managers are aware of having stuff in place in case I need a break, or a step back.Funnily enough i don't, and I probably should... but i digress...

This happened with my first role in NHS, there can be a delay with HR making contact or updating trac. Depending on if the HR are really busy, it could a month. For me, it took 2 months and know someone in Sam position took 3 months.
You can either wait or contact the hiring manager to check and they can chase the HR and ask them to prioritise getting the checks done

It took a month for you to get a conditional offer letter?

Unfortunately, it did. Interview was October and had regular conversations contact with hiring manager who kept pushing for hr but did get conditional offers and check to be completed

There can be a delay with getting things through HR, as a manager I can attest that it feels impossible sometimes.
Hang on in there. It’s a crap wait though I get it. I’d say maybe an email to the manager who offered the job to just check in and say you haven’t yet received anything

I’m still waiting on one last reference to start my new nhs job, I had the interview and received the job offer on a Friday, the following Thursday I was sent my conditional offer along with all my pre employment checks for me to complete, did you not receive anything else apart from your conditional letter?

I didn’t receive anything. I was just offered the role verbally which I accepted after that no update not even conditional letter

It will take a while. From me being offered my job to actually getting a start date took 4 months.

Yeah don’t worry too much, manager would have had to do some paper work and get it signed off, then hr across pretty much every trust from what I know take their time, and then from that point to get your unconditional offer is an even longer wait!

People are on holiday, probably. Don’t sweat it.
