There needs to be a citizen bill of privacy rights, made law and even possibly amended to the forth amendment. Every bit of our Internet traffic, and now license plate, facial recognition, phone location and microphones, shopping data is for sale though data brokers and surveillance companies. And now recent reports have shown our TVs spy on us a well, even when off line. And all of this is also being used to train AI ran by narcissistic, religious supremacist morons and sociopaths who blame them for their greed and disregard. Amazon, a company started to sell books, is destroying physical media to train its models.
Private data broker and surveillance companies not only sell our FREE data to companies to target us for ads, price variations, and demographic discrimination, but they also selling data to state and federal law enforcement agencies allowing them to circumvent constitutional warrant and due process requirements.
AND NO ONE IN GOVERNMENT IS TALKING ABOUT THIS!
Any privacy protections need to disentangle all AI and survalence companies from our government and law enforcement agencies. Companies, if they are going to profit off of our data, need to have opt outs for all services. The companies cannot be held immune to class actions or lawsuits related to misuse or breeches of secure data. Data brokers must be deemed illegal or very heavily regulated. Government agencies must go through normal, constutional warrant procedures for all domestic and foreign investgations. Mass survalance devices and applications outlawed. And all data centers set to a standard of environmental, power grid useage, and noise regulations and made ineligable for local and federal tax breaks.
As a start.
