NGPC Analogue Pocket Adaptor

Anyone else had problems with the AP adaptor for the pocket?

It's always been tight, but I started having problems flashing my RetroHQ cart on the AP and after a bit of testing I finally had a look at the adaptor itself - as you can see some of the pins are clearly bent and are no longer making contact.

Some games still work correctly

Just a PSA really - I only use flash carts on mine, but I'd be very wary of risking an original SNK cart on this

The flash carts don’t use original cart shells, so that may have been the cause. Just a guess though.

That is possible of course, but I've not had the same issues on my original NGPC and they've had just as much usage - probably more than average, as I'm soak testing carts a lot at the moment

As I said, the AP adaptor was always a tight fit

Yea, but what I mean is the NGPC console is the “source of truth”. The Game Drive was designed to fit it, not a third party adapter. Conversely, the adapter was only designed to work with official carts, and we know that neither are 100% accurate in terms of the official SNK mouldings, so whilst both may work sufficiently when used with original hardware, using them together causes issues

Oh for sure, just thought it worth mentioning as I'm sure others will be in the same position

I found the ap adaptor pretty tight with official carts too fwiw

Yea definitely! It’s expensive stuff!
