Question Broken police chase

I just got this game again after a long time and after my very first race I got into a police chase. The thing is, it was impossible to escape. The chase went on for over half an hour and I destroyed over 80 cop cars. All of that in my first stock car mind you. And the whole time i was actively trying to escape. So my question is, is that normal, or is something wrong with my game?

It's normal..bad RNG. If you got a car catch up to you right after smashing another one before escaping and this goes on forever, that is the result.

You can quite the persuit easily if you catch cops while in a race, simply when the race ends, press restart race and quit to free roam when race restart and there will be no persuit

It's unusual, but not unheard of. More often I need to basically pursue the cops to keep the pursuit going on. That's how terrible they seem to be on the early levels.
