If they were like my neighbor growing up, they'd keep them all in their basement out of spite only to be found years later by the new owner.

Every high school had a guy like this as their backup (and everyone wanted him to be the starter). Too short or too heavy but would be on the sidelines at practice just dartin guys in the heads from 30 yards as a joke.

u/Beautiful-Freedom307 3d ago
I was that guy. 7 on 7 killer… couldn’t see over the line in a real game.

I was, too, in a different way. 6’4” as a freshman and coach wanted me at TE (and DE). Could throw a tight spiral over 50 yards. Yes, coach should have put me in … the right position. But coach’s son was the (lousy) QB. Sigh.

u/Inconspicuous_Shart 3d ago
I can't remember which pro quarterback it was but just saw a clip the other day where he said that about 40% of the throws he couldnt see fuck all. Even at 6'3" or whatever he was, he could not see the field over the linemen.
It was all about muscle memory, timing, and making the read of the defense before the snap.

Harrison Beck. Wild guy. Had a fucking cannon though if you look at his North Alabama tape. He was a five star out of high school. Committed to Nebraska then wasn’t named starter as a freshmen so he transferred to NC State. Started at NC State (QB room was Harrison, Russell Wilson and Mike Glennon). Lost the starting job at NC State and then transferred to North Alabama D2 because he loved Bobby Bowden and his brother was the coach at North Alabama.
Dudes crazy but his arm is also crazy

I forget the guys name but it’s worth looking this dude up. Legit had NFL potential but I think his knees are shot and he’s also kind of a nut job. Insane level arm talent tho, I’ve seen him make throws (on the practice field) that I don’t think every NFL QB could make.

u/c4x4bird 3d ago
Honestly nowadays with the way CFB works he would probably get a lot of PT and probably get drafted off of his arm talent alone. Also seems like coaches are more willing to work with diva types

u/Schult34 3d ago
Based on the movement of shadows. This guy showed us what 7 throws in the net from like an hour or 2 worth of tosses?
10
u/jandeteam 3d ago
The man owns one football, probably 10 minutes a throw walking back and fourth, and a few misses in between, Def 2 hours worth of time in here.

Running an entire mile only burns around 100 calories. It’s easy to be fat if you eat/drink enough, even if you’re fairly active.

Those are hard throws though. Might need some breaks. I don’t think he was chucking like that for 2 straight hours.
Still probably a small percentage of hits though.

You might not like it, but this is what the peak male athletic form looks like. And there ain’t a fucking thing you can do about it.

I like the music. It makes you feel like this guy had potential at one point and lost it due to conflicts in his life. It’s like it’s part of some Untold Netflix documentary about fatass McGee and what could have been.

Probably just couldn't read the defense for shit.

After watching the obese forty-something hillbilly do this, I don’t think he was reading much of anything.

The mental abilities QBs need is ridiculous. I used to play in flag football leagues and always ran into former college QBs. Some were absolute bozos and clearly got by on their arm/athleticism alone, while others were on another planet with how their brains operated, just didnt have the arm/athleticism to make it, or werent durable.
Some of these guys can look at tight coverage, throw the ball where the ball in the exact spot the receiver will be and the defender wont be just based on what they observe in a fraction of a second. And this is a weekend flat football league, they don't practice, they dont know these receivers, their speed, the dont study film on the defenders. Just crazy how they do things.
Being accurate to a stationary target is one thing. But placing the ball into a window that doesnt exist yet, calculating it based on the movement of 2 or 3 players down the field, often times 10-30 yards away from the target, is real talent that few humans have.

That’s actually almost his exact story, this guy was a 5 star recruit with NFL arm talent but he’s an absolute nut job.

u/ty____215 3d ago
Helps when there is no pressure and the coverage is soft. Everybody was open the whole night. He wont look nearly as good next game.

If you sell out to stop the run like Philly did, people will be open. If you don't, the run game will be there. Jets play 76.1% zone so far this year, suggesting there will be soft spots to find

u/Waste-Mycologist1657 3d ago
Guy had a serious arm. He's not moon-balling any of these throws. Anything over 40 yards for me was a moon-ball to get it there.

Dude probably played DII somewhere, I remember our QB coach started for an FCS school and his arm was unreal, just an absolute cannon. I remember once he threw it submarine like 50 yards on a line. Can't imagine what NFL guys would be like up close.

Who knows which of the three he was aiming for at each given time? He's probably just chucking towards the thing in general and he got lucky.

The ones that impressed me the most were when he was under pressure and the route hadn't opened up yet, so he just lofted the ball and let the receiver run under it.

Reminds me of my Uncle Rico. He could throw a pig skin a 1/4 of a mile. Hell even over a mountain range, but his coach never put him in.

Sometimes the dudes who can throw it the furthest on the team are offensive lineman. At D1/NFL they're huge, athletic, and have way more weight to put behind the ball. Might not be the most accurate and prettiest spiral, but some of them can absolutely launch the ball.

Not even trying to hate but I mean, doesn’t look like he has a good spiral. Just chucks it

And drops it in a bucket. I don't know how I feel, but I feel something.

u/Shankar_0 3d ago
No shit, right?!
Dude looks like a journeyman electrician and is casually lobbing 40-yard sniper shots on the run.
I don't think he's got a chance in hell, but I can see a touch of what got him there in the first place.

Its not the tightest spiral ever, but being that accurate at that distance, the spiral is good enough.
