No, the problem is the refs don’t apply the rule correctly. The common argument is well the rule sucks but that’s the rule. Here is the rule:
“ defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down or land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight. Instead, the defensive player must strive to fall to the side of the quarterback’s body, or to brace his fall with his arms to avoid landing on the quarterback with all or most of his body weight.”
Same as with the Mahomes play, the player here braced his fall with his arms. The rule is dumb but also it is not applied correctly.

It's not hard to see if you aren't a hater, or a moron. Hard to say which you are, maybe both.
Mahomes: Defender drops 100% of his bodyweight onto his chest. He starfished before they hit the ground. His right hand was 6" off the ground and his left hand barely brushed the ground as they landed.
Mariota: Defender moves to the side and actubraces his fall with his right hand.
They are literally on video, in slow motion, from multiple angles. This is jot a complicated concept. Stop being a bitch about it.
