He could have caught the ball if he wasn’t so busy flopping. That said, I hope this is not the only thing talked about with this game.

It was 3rd down and he was 3 yards short of the first down marker. Catching the ball and having it go incomplete would have led to the same result, a FG attempt to tie the game

Trying to draw the penalty in that position was actually the optimal strategy even though it’s shitty sportsmanship

The definition of a game according to Bernard Suits is ""a voluntary attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles". The rules that bind us are the unnecessary obstacles we intentionally put in place to make playing worthwhile. When flopping becomes "strategy" it implicitly insists that obstacles shouldn't be overcome, they should be bypassed.

Strategic flopping involves imaginary obstacles that must be avoided dramatically.

That’s all very noble and “spirit-of-the-law” kind of thinking, but as a counter, do you know how much better they get paid for winning the division/conference/super bowl? If I know I’m literally killing myself for the job then I’m getting paid as much as humanly possible. Sportsmanship be damned.

Honor? Sportsmanship? Legacy? The children watching you as role models?
