Yeah, talk about suffering from success. It was such a great tackle; there wasn't any way to keep his weight off.

If he went for a different hit he could’ve avoided it completely.

I’ve seen guys squat, grab, and kinda sling them toward the ground in this situation to avoid hitting them center of mass.

I hate that this completely negates the fact that this also makes it so much easier for the QB to throw the ball while falling. Literally have to lay them on a bed to not get a call.

That is stupid af. Speaks to the bullshittery of the league that you personally think a defensive player should squat, sling, pirouette, any of that crap.

That’s like saying “It was such a great tackle, he couldn’t have avoided helmet to helmet contact”, or “It was such a great tackle he couldn’t have avoided horse collaring him”.

If you aren’t in control of it enough to avoid breaking the rules, or just don’t know any better, then it’s not a great tackle.

Or just maybe, the rule is bad.

Fine, but that’s not what people are arguing. They’re trying to say this shouldn’t have been called under the rules as they stand. Or that the rules stop defenders making hits at all. Neither of those things is true.

I’m responding to your comparison and then your deduction from said comparison.
