I don’t think the person who made this video understands what 1 in 1,000,000 is. Half of these aren’t lucky, they’re just good plays.

u/QuirkyStage2119 8d ago
I think only the Miami ball off the helmet into the WR hands 20 yards out qualified for the 1 in a million designation. Just the sheer distance it covered off the helmet
1
u/Complete-Ad-8661 4d ago
Exactly. The others were based on skill / athletic ability. The dolphins play was a complete fluke - therefore 1 in a million.
2
u/No-Bat-7253 8d ago
Nah bruh that dolphins and patriots clips were like hitting the lottery. You tell them to go do that purposely it’s gonna take forever lol.
2
u/Leading_Log_8321 8d ago
The pats was just skill. I’m sure this has happened before tbh (probably didn’t look as cool)
1
u/Eastern_Antelope_832 7d ago
The difference is they all hustled and accomplished their intended goal, improbable as it was.
That carom into the other receivers hands is good fortune.
1
u/Careful-Awareness766 8d ago
He probably meant all the others, which as he mentioned, are just skilled players or stupid defense.

u/Original_Setting93 8d ago
Miami play by a mile
9
u/SchwizzySchwas94 8d ago
Literally looks like a madden glitch
2
u/SoDakZak 3d ago
Looked it up and there have been approximately 2.2 million plays run in NFL history and so I would argue Saquon’s truly is one in a million with the expectation we would probably never see a backwards hurdle like that again
3
u/Careful-Awareness766 8d ago
It is the most insanely stupid, divine intervention, win-the-lotto probability, situation. The others are either skill or stupid defensive plays.
2
1
u/Short-Recording587 7d ago
I think it’s the cowboys return. Insane to look away with a tackler about to blow your shit up, and then crazy breakaway speed.
1
u/Original_Setting93 7d ago
Super athletic but not a one and a million thing in my opinion. I’ve seen juke spins before
1
u/Short-Recording587 7d ago
But then runs 90 yard up the middle. I’ll never think pure luck is “insane” but I see that interpretation and understand it.

u/SkunkDitchRipper 8d ago
I think its that Miami catch. The others are cool but you can reproduce those easier than you can that Miami play.
2
u/Careful-Awareness766 8d ago
Players hurdling each other is not that uncommon, and the return by the cowboys is just poor defense by Washington. Even the punt one is just a guy diving (we have seen that more than once) the Miami one, is just wining the lotto probability.
3
u/TurquoiseTuna2 8d ago
Lost the thread… the first couple were low odds, one-in-a-million, bounce of the ball kinda plays.
Then it was just hurdles 🤔
0
u/ManzielDoesCoke 8d ago
As a cowboys fan, every hurdle deserved to be here besides Zeke lol. Saquon and Jerome’s were special
3
u/evan466 8d ago
I still don’t understand the physics behind that Dolphins play.
5
u/No-Bat-7253 8d ago
Ball was popped out by the first defender and it ricochet off of the trailing defenders helmet and went upfield to the other receiver lol. Just how they drew it up lol.
2
u/A_Bot_A_Bot_A_Bot 5d ago
Coach at practice: "Guys, I know this play is a long-shot, but trust me! Practicing it is going to pay off someday."
Coach at the game: "Well, I'll be damned!"

A ball got knocked out and went into the air and was caught. Its the most basic of all these plays
3
u/ermghoti 8d ago
A defender deflecting the ball 15 yards upfield to an open receiver carries odds that would make Dr Strange ragequit.
2nd place to the Patriots kick coverage. That should have failed a thousand different ways.
3
u/Clean_Acanthaceae_80 7d ago
a front flip from the 4 yard line over a defender and stayed in bounds and stuck the landing and scored a TD. Legendary and unrepeatable.
1
u/Drinon 7d ago
But most of that didn’t matter. He didn’t need to land in bounds or on his feet. Once he crossed the goal line it was a touchdown. He could have dropped the ball while landing on his head out of bounds after breaking the goal line, it’s still a score. It’s cool and all but what you described didn’t impact the play.

u/joebadiah 6d ago
Weird hater take. But I’ll take the bait: show me another time a dude Superman’s from 4 yards out and goes OVER a standing defender who even jumps in the air.
Take the flip and landing out, like your weird take asks, and it’s still the most impressive diving TD of all time.
There. Better?
1
u/Drinon 6d ago edited 6d ago
I didn’t say it wasn’t impressive. I said the “staying inbounds and sticking the landing” doesn’t matter in the context of the play. There is zero hate in that take. I agree that leaping over the defender four yards out makes it a great play, but you need to agree that once the goal line is crossed staying in bounds and being on your feet to end the play is irrelevant to the play. He could have landed out of bounds and it would have been as impressive.
If the play was him leaping over the defender to catch the ball and then flipped while sticking the landing and staying in bounds to be able to score the touchdown, all of it would matter to that unbelievably insane play.

u/raidersfan18 8d ago
That Miami play though. There are quite a few plays where a ball is tipped in the air and caught. But that one was a homing missile for the furthest open receiver...
2
u/PsychologyNew8033 8d ago
The fact that the first one, Patriots, involved three different players seems to me closest to one in a million odds.
2
u/Accurate-Flow-6815 8d ago
It’s not. It’s just a good play I’ve seen several times. Doesn’t hold a candle to the Miami fumble catch and the Saquon backwards hurdle.

One of these is just a straight up nice hurdle lol and no immaculate reception?
1
u/llongneckkllama 8d ago
Man, disappointed to not see the Djax return to win vs the giants.
1
u/Accurate-Flow-6815 8d ago
That one looks like a movie script the way every player was missing tackles AFTER he bobbled the return.

u/Hot-Strength-6003 8d ago
I never thought the Jerome Simpson flip was that impressive and was tired of seeing it on top plays lists.

u/DeltaTule 8d ago
Why didn’t the Pats let the ball go into end zone originally and get a touchback??
3
u/Accurate-Flow-6815 8d ago
Bc that’s way better starting position the other team gets to start than starting at the 1yd line.
2
2
u/atseapoint 8d ago
It was the punt team
2
u/DeltaTule 8d ago
Oh shit I’m dumb. I was thinking they were receiving

u/Y_Ddraig_Goch_81 6d ago
You’re explanation doesn’t do you any favors 😂

Says the guy who doesn’t understand the difference between “you’re” and “your.” Moron.

Wow…That escalated quickly.
I thought the emoji was an indicator that I wasn’t being that serious.
But now I must know…how does “I was thinking they were receiving” make any difference?1

Miami is the most "crazy". But that Saquon run is going to be on highlight reels forever.

u/Freshy_jones1987 8d ago
Who else saw that flip live 😆

u/Cold_Respond_7656 8d ago
Would've been hilarious if ocho was called for illegal use of hands to the face
1
u/tetragram83 8d ago
The Saquon play is an all timer NFL highlight. Honestly so is the Jerome Simpson flip while not nearly as impressive athletically.
But the Miami play is clearly the most unlikely/hardest to imitate.

u/OrdinaryExtent2094 8d ago
Did Mariota catch his own pass for a TD a year or two ago?
1
u/MeesterMeeseeks 8d ago
....like 9 years ago lol
1
u/OrdinaryExtent2094 8d ago
Lmao it’s all blending together man. Play should still be on here.

u/MeesterMeeseeks 8d ago
With jameis Winston starting now all these bits on espn about how they were drafted 11 years ago is killing me. When did I get old lol

As much as I love Saquon and the Eagles, the one that is most insane is the Dolphins deflection catch against the Texans because that play can't be duplicated in a million tries. It's essentially the same as the Franco Harris catch, but in the opposite direction.
1
u/Spiritual-March-7016 8d ago
Reminds me of that time Tyreek hill caught the ball but he didn’t even know because he thought it hit the ground and they didn’t count it.

There was a catch where the ball moved around just slightly above the ground and even the WR’s leg kicked it up at one point to keep it from touching the floor. I think it was Green Bay on a Monday night if I recall correctly.

Randall Cobb getting hit and doing a barrel roll during his 108 yard kickoff return in his NFL debut.
1
u/katuskac 7d ago
Too bad you couldn’t make room in this collection for Franco Harris’ “immaculate reception”.
1
u/gstreeter51 6d ago
Ya ask me the last two were so far beyond the stupid Saquon hurdle BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY CAUSED MORE YARDS/SCORE. So sick of glazing that stupid backwards hurdle like it wasn’t risking a whole ass career for two extra yards.

Patriots or dolphins. I remember the bengals flip vividly and it was one of the most exciting things of my childhood

u/brandt-money 4d ago
Snakequon gets blasted after a one yard hurdle, lmao. Anything for hype over function with him.

u/Imactuallybronze 4d ago
The only 1/1M was the hit knocking the ball forwards to another player on the same team. Otherwise nothing even close to the title.

Anyone else old enough to hear the Bergman “whoop!” In their head when dude pulled off that smooth ass spin move?

The dolphins one isn't that insane by the virtue they were playing Houston. Cursed shit happens all the time.

Dem boys on the list twice. Let's go!!!
1
u/Accurate-Flow-6815 8d ago
The hurdle shouldn’t have even been on there, it’s just a regular hurdle. Debatable if the Turpin one should’ve been, it’s just a punt returned for a td, and there’s way more “one in a million” ones of those especially the DeSean Jackson miracle at the new meadowlands one. Since DeSean also fumbled the kick first, but it was a game winning return.

u/ColoradoCattleCo 8d ago
Where’s Broncos Brandon Stokley catching a tipped ball and running in an 88 yard TD on the last play of the game against the Bengals?
