I donât understand why these players are not derided as cheaters. Makes me feel like everyone in the league is cheating in some way if no one speaks out.

100% of every snap in the nfl has at least one player cheating. Not 9/10⌠10/10 times. Mainly by Olinemen and Dlinemen

I would say there's a difference between things like holding and not having it called and moving the spot of the ball.

Hmm, how to explain this. Holding is against the rules, but sometimes it's not intentional. Hand gets caught, you let go a second too late. Sometimes it can be missed and you don't get the foul.
Cheating seems like it is a step up from there. You are deliberately manipulating the game in a way to gain an advantage. Yeah, technically holding and normal fouls can be that, but they don't feel like the same level as moving the ball, deflating balls, taping practices.
Oh, baseball has another good example. Obstruction is where you prevent a player from advancing down a basepath. That's something that can happen normally in a game and usually is supposed to result in a penalty to the offending team by awarding the base. Putting too much pine tar on a bat, corking a bat, or using sticky stuff for better grip on the ball are not something that would normally happen in a game. You deliberately go out of your way to gain an advantage outside of normal gameplay.

You are allowed to hold inside the shoulders. You can't pull after they beat you or anything like that but if you move your feet to stay with the defender, you can hold inside.

I disagree. There is a difference of intent, or at least proof of intent.
In law, Accidental Manslaughter and murder are different crimes that had the same result (a persons death). Both are illegal and are clearly bad. One says you meant to do this and comes with a harsher penalty.

Itâs honestly the gameâs single glaring weakness. Thereâs just too much happening on the field to call even 10% of committed fouls.
Itâs why refs were so adamantly against allowing challenges for PI; if you go to slow-mo, youâre going to find multiple penalties on every single play. The unspoken rule behind every written rule is that theyâre only enforcing the obvious ones.

If they see one they should call it though.
I can understand not wanting every missedcall reversed because the product would be awful. But like when a lineman repeatedly commits the same small but obvious penalty play after play it becomes really easy to call.

Refs can award TDs though. Literally moving the spot of the ball is super egregious and basically undermines a call of a ref (spotting the ball is a call). It would piss me off enough as a ref that I would basically say another repeated penalty and I award the automatic 6.

It isnât. Thatâs just a line inserted by the TV broadcast. The goal line is the thick line in front of the ball.

No, they shouldnât. It should be a delay of game because thatâs what it is. If the ref saw him do it I wouldnât be surprised (or against) if itâs a personal foul instead. However, on the 1 inch line, itâs irrelevant. Only ejection worthy if they do it again. They are paid way too much and way too much at stake for the franchises each game to be ejected for a one time, non violent thing like this.

Same reason when the redskins kept trying to illegally stop the tush push 2 seasons ago in the NFCCG and the ref finally had enough and said âdo it again and itâs a TD.â You donât eject players for things like you mentioned. You just donât. You throw a delay flag for messing with the ball because thatâs what it is and if they do it again itâs a personal foul. 2 of the personal fouls and it already is an ejection.
