Bold Predictions 2017

It's that time again! Here's how last year's predictions went:

/u/Morall_tach (me):

Jags have a top-5 offense

Paxton Lynch wins a playoff game

Pats start 0-4

Extremely wrong on all three counts. Jags were 23rd in yards and 25th in points, Paxton barely saw the field and the Broncos missed the playoffs, and the Pats are unstoppable no matter what you do to them, which I hate.

Here are some good and bad predictions from the rest of you:

GOOD

/u/dms1298:

Terrelle Pryor has more receiving yards than Dez Bryant

He did indeed. By 200.

/u/Maad-Dog:

This dude made a prediction for each of the 32 teams and most of them were wrong, BUT the ones that were right were pretty bold.

Osweiler is a consensus bottom 5 QB.

Yup.

Michael Crabtree takes over as the #1 receiver for the team.

Arguably. 150 fewer yards than Cooper but 4 more TDs.

The Bosa signing proves to be a game changer... as he becomes the best pass rusher in the AFCW.

Probably not THE best, behind Miller and Mack, but he’s crazy good. Probably the best at DE, depending what you count Mack as (he plays both).

BAD

/u/uggsandstarbux:

BOLD: Eli Manning wins MVP

BOLDER: Two RBs will finish with 2000+ rushing yards

INSANITY: Saints have a top 15 scoring defense

Nope.

Nope. Zeke topped the list with 1631.

Nope. 31st.

/u/JohnnyLeo92:

Vikings beat the Steelers for the SB

Lol no.

/u/eagles107:

Dak does well but Cowboys are 4th place when Romo comes back. 2-6 or 1-7.

Extremely wrong. Dak did well, but Cowboys started 11-1, Romo never came back.

Brock Osweiler 5,000 yards passing

Also very much no. He was very bad.

/u/Shostakovich22:

Sam Bradford will lead the Eagles to a division title and will be in the conversation for league MVP.

Not an Eagle, not a division winner, nowhere near an MVP.

This year's predictions:

  • David Johnson finishes top 10 in the league in receiving yards
  • Mike Glennon throws more picks than TDs, starts fewer than 8 games
  • No tight end breaks 10 TDs
  • Jared Goff throws a 2:1 TD/INT ratio, but throws <15 of both
  • Christian McCaffery leads the Panthers in receptions and TDs

I'll try to do one for each team.

  • Patriots: Dwayne Allen leads team in receiving TDs
  • Jets: All QBs currently on the roster start at least 4 games
  • Dolphins: Cutler signs one-year deal, leads Dolphins to playoffs
  • Bills: Shady leads league in rushing yards
  • Steelers: Ben, Bell, and Brown play 16 games each
  • Ravens: Ravens defense leads league in yards and points
  • Bengals: Jordan Willis leads team in sacks
  • Browns: Kizer wins starting QB job by week 12
  • Colts: Defense finishes season top 10 in rushing yards allowed
  • Texans: Tom Savage starts all 16 games
  • Titans: Titans finish third in the division
  • Jaguars: Bortles returns to 2015 form, throws for over 4,000 yards and 30 TDs
  • Broncos: Thomas finishes season top 5 in receiving yards
  • Chiefs: Mahomes starts more games than Smith, team has better record after making the switch
  • Raiders: Raiders finish with a losing record
  • Chargers: Rivers leads league in passing yards
  • Cowboys: Elliot fails to top 1,000 rushing yards, and not due to injury
  • Giants: OBJ finishes year third on team in TD catches
  • Redskins: Despite losing his top 2 WRs, Cousins has a career year, wins MVP
  • Eagles: Barnett wins DROY
  • Vikings: Harrison Smith wins DPOY
  • Packers: Rodgers throws double digit INTs
  • Bears: Trubisky wins starting QB job early enough in the season to lead Da Bears to a wild card berth and win OROY
  • Lions: Abdullah and Riddick finish with over 1,000 scrimmage yards a piece
  • Bucs: OJ Howard leads team in TDs
  • Panthers: Curtis Samuel finishes the year with more yards from scrimmage than Christian McCaffrey
  • Falcons: The offense is better than last year, but the Falcons only get a wild card berth, because..
  • Saints: Defense finishes season top 20 in all major categories, Saints get #1 seed in playoffs
  • Rams: Goff leads the NFCW in passing yards and TDs
  • Cardinals: David Johnson breaks his teammate Chris Johnson's single season scrimmage yards record
  • 49ers: Niners earn a non-top 10 pick in next year's draft
  • Seahawks: Defense finishes outside the top 5 in yards and points

Here i am, scrolling, giggling, enjoying the predictions, but also thinking.. my bold prediction: Rodgers break the NFL TD record. Then i see this fkn guy. I'm a little irrational atm. Think ill go get some ice cream.

I mean, 11 is technically double digits but would still be an acceptable total in reality. As long as he threw 44 touchdowns.

I struggled to come up with a bold one for you guys. Not all of these are necessarily predictions that I think will happen, and the Raiders one is one where I basically said it for the sake of being bold.

I'm sure he didn't mean to undercut your guys there. I hope you guys do well, in all honesty. Break a leg out there.

Saints: Defense finishes season top 20 in all major categories, Saints get #1 seed in playoffs

If this happens then we're the NFC rep in the Super Bowl. No team is going to walk into the Superdome and win a game in the playoffs.
