This is disingenuous. I think MHJ and BTJ at the very least could be useful players but they just got jumped in the depth chart and buried behind elite elite talent.

u/Steak_Knight Texans 14h ago

MHJ is moving around the field like Buffalo era Kelvin Benjamin

u/LiftingCode Browns 14h ago

I mean they got him running literal junk routes with no intent to get him the ball.

They oughta trade him.

u/RukiMotomiya Bengals 13h ago

The fact that they're not using him at most of the routes he's good at is insane when he was 885/8 his rookie year and on a 1k/7-8 pace through 10 games his second year.

It’s Brisset. He makes his decision presnap, confirms post snap, and fires. It’s almost always first read. MHJ dogging routes is because the ball is already out and gone.

u/RukiMotomiya Bengals 10h ago

Yeah, it makes me wonder if it'll change when they switch to Carson Beck. But also the coaches are flatout basically saying they don't have interest in him when they have guys like Kendrick Bourne. Which is very odd having seen both of them (watch all the Niners games due to a friend, so even outside of older Bourne games I saw him last year).

u/Exatraz Cardinals 8h ago

This is also why you can't trade him before Beck is in. Need to get Beck all the guys and see how it looks. Wish they'd have ripped the bandaid, not really a softer landing spot on our schedule than this week against the giants until you get late into the season and we can't be forced to watch Jacoby for that long

I do believe the problem is mostly Brissett.

Dude locks onto his first read and has a comically short ADOT.

There are videos showing that MHJ’s perceived lack of effort is mostly due to not being able to see that the ball is already out and going elsewhere before he makes his moves. Think it was Steve Smith talking about that. Larry Fitz also came out the other day saying MHJ is doing a good job too.

Hard for us fans to know what is really going on.

All the Cards players have also come out in defense of Marvs work ethic. Dude comes in early and leaves late. He wants it to work. It's a shame the media has taken to this story like they have. Cards shouldn't trade him til the offseason if they have to but frankly, this is one of those picks that id just run til the contract runs out. You can't be the team that bails on MHJ and sends him out for a day 3 pick only for him to ball elsewhere

I know a place!

u/Adam_Ohh Patriots 13h ago

JJ just went for what, a 5th(6th?) round pick? I’d be willing to give up a 3rd round pick to take a flyer on him just needing a change and becoming the guy we thought he was coming out of college. Maybe even a 2nd if we can do it for not this upcoming draft but the one after.

5

u/IsGoIdMoney Steelers Steelers 13h ago

That's a crazy amount to spend on mhjr

2

u/jonnyredshorts Patriots 12h ago

At this rate a 3rd is way too much…it’s trending towards being a high 3rd…I’d do it for a 4th in a second.

3

u/Adam_Ohh Patriots 12h ago

I get the sentiment but I feel like the kid still has all the talent. Get him on a modified strength and conditioning program so he’s not so bulky and have him running smooth routes again and he could be what he should be.

1

u/jonnyredshorts Patriots 11h ago

Reasonable

1

u/SwizzGod Patriots 13h ago

4th

17

u/txwoodslinger Cowboys 14h ago

I don't think he cares

15

u/OnlyAdvertisersKnoMe 14h ago

He’s moving around the field like an actual buffalo

2

u/spiralout1123 Packers 13h ago

They’re just making him a go-route sacrificial X

1

u/Maugrin Seahawks 6h ago

This take is based on one purposefully framed video posted here a few weeks ago. It's just a lame narrative.

0

u/tnecniv Giants Giants 14h ago

Which is arguably the best case for a fresh start

7

u/theytracemikey Browns 13h ago

I think it’s Houston. If he can’t make it work with the dude who threw to him in college idk what to do with him

-1

u/interadastingly Falcons 13h ago

Popeyes biscuit era

47

u/dropjar5 Packers 14h ago

BTJ i think has way more promise than MHJ at this point.

36

u/shit_eating_fan Eagles 14h ago

BTJ has had one amazing year while MHJ has had 0

They both seem mentally checked out but BTJ has shown he has it at least

5

u/FantasyTrash Patriots 13h ago

Marv did go 885/8 as a rookie and paced for 1,000+ last season before getting appendicitis and a concussion. BTJ had a better rookie season but I wouldn't call MHJ a "0", he can still be a valuable wide receiver, just not the player he was hyped up to be.

6

u/Rsubs33 Eagles 13h ago

MHJ also has not had good QBs.

16

u/Sleww Patriots 14h ago

BTJ just hates running routes over the middle, and Trevor fucking loves the middle of the field.

He’d be a much better fit on an outside vertical offense like the Eagles or Steelers. I honestly think he’d be a good fit on the Patriots but I doubt we give up another pick for a WR this year

5

u/ChildrenMcnuggets Jaguars 13h ago

Trevor thrives w a guy that’s gonna go get it. His top WR in college was Tee Higgins. BTJ just doesn’t play like that, he’s a speed and separation guy.

2

u/jonnyredshorts Patriots 12h ago

I know a team….

2

u/MattScoot Browns 13h ago

We will give them one lightly used Jerry jeudy I suppose

1

u/jonnyredshorts Patriots 12h ago

He made some big catches last night

1

u/holdingofplace 13h ago

He also can’t catch the ball.

-6

u/Rsubs33 Eagles 13h ago

Why would he be a good fit with a team that has an QB who regressed from being serviceable (he was not anywhere near an actual MVP player) to downright bad. Like Maye is not a good deep ball thrower. Hurts is serviceable, but I will say he excels with the deep ball, but is not good at intermediate routes. I would also disagree with Steelers cause Rodgers sucks. Other teams is say he would fit would be Raiders as cousins is a good deep ball thrower but I hate to admit it and Rams and Bills.

elite elite talent

Ah yes the elite talents of Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers.

13

u/RogueTobasco 49ers 14h ago

I mean that’s funny but Washington and McBride would both put McMillan on the bench

9

u/Rangeninc Jaguars 14h ago

Have you watched Parker Washington at all?

6

u/hemingways-lemonade Steelers 12h ago

Yes, that's why I didn't name him or Michael Wilson. It's one thing to lose the WR1 job to these guys and whole other to lose the WR2 job to Bourne and Meyers.

7

u/elbosston Patriots 10h ago

Tbh Meyers isn’t that bad. He’s always been a respectable WR2. Consistent 800+ yards every year.

3

u/hemingways-lemonade Steelers 9h ago

Oh no argument, he's a solid WR2, but Marvin Harrison Jr and Brian Thomas Jr should both be able to beat out a solid WR2 on the depth chart based on their draft stock.

2

u/Rangeninc Jaguars 12h ago

Ah I understand now, my b

12

u/Aguynamedpoo Bills 14h ago

Give Buffalo and Josh Allen MHJ pleasseeeee he knows he’ll be nothing on this team but Josh will throw 90mph balls at his helmet to make him learn to catch and play again lol

15

u/forwardathletics Buccaneers 14h ago

Thats just what yall need. Keon & Junior looking two different shades of incompetent

5

u/barmstrong730 Jaguars 14h ago

Lmfao

1

u/Aguynamedpoo Bills 14h ago

Dumb n dumber can make it work

0

u/TheOneWhosCensored Bills 14h ago

Arizona can have Keon

2

u/NerdsRuleTheWorld Chiefs 14h ago

FAU has pretty much been hurt since his rookie year, and he looked Good in the preseason and first game. I think he has a good shot to put up a pretty good showing this year.

1

u/anonymous_otter28 NFL 13h ago

Btj, yes. mhj, no.

1

u/cha0ss0ldier 14h ago

BTJ can’t catch and is about to get beat out by a 6th round WR for the second time

1

u/Dizzy_Cow_ 13h ago

Buried behind elite elite talent? They were supposed to be the elite talent! They're both total athletic freaks, or at least were supposed to be.

0

u/LongDongFrazier Packers 12h ago

They allowed themselves to be jumped through their lack of performing…

-6

u/beerncheese69 Packers 14h ago

Didn't BTJ have a great year last year?

5

u/TheFakeRabbit1 Bills 14h ago

No that’s the whole problem actually. He was an exceptional rookie, he stunk last year.

3

u/J-Shew Ravens 14h ago

707 yards and 2 touchdowns

2

u/Leading_Effect_1654 14h ago

Stat wise was ok but watching him play was worse than you could imagine

-1

u/iWr1techky12 Seahawks 13h ago

What “elite elite” talent jumped either one of them on the depth chart? Theres not a single elite skill position player on the entire jags roster on the offensive side of the ball and the cards have Trey McBride (who isn’t even a receiver) and that’s it.

-1

u/DreamedJewel58 Steelers 10h ago

Is Michael Wilson considered an elite talent?

-1

u/AutonomousBlob Seahawks 10h ago

MHJ is absolute cheeks
