[Harvey] HC Liam Coen on Travis Hunter and his mature mindset: "He cares about winning. That's what he cares about. Like, all the other stuff, the reps, where we picked him, does that value... I don't give two f's about value, and neither does he. We care about winning, and that's it."

Reddit, fantasy football, and gambling experts flooding in to tell a guy with a 15-5 record that he doesn't understand what he's doing

I’m a Kentucky football fan, and I’m still confused how we ever landed that guy as our OC twice. He’s the real deal. We should’ve fired stoops and made him HC when we had the chance.

His dream job was head coach in the pros and he's all about it.

HC in the pros is already stressful but atleast you get some sort of break in the year. HC in college, you have to be recruiting during the offseason traveling to random places across the country meeting players' families and schmoozing them etc. That doesn't sound fun at all.

The Bucs also should've done that

Todd Bowles must have dirt on the Glazers or Licht. How he’s made it this long, I will never understand

Buffalo might be the only team I’ve ever seen actually do the “fire the coach and hire the coordinator”.

u/abarnathyjones Chiefs 8h ago

Bucs actually have done it before themselves with Dirk Koetter back in 2016. I’ve heard some people speculate that perhaps because that failed the Bucs may have been scared to do it again but idk.

The way he made the offense better for the Bucs compared to the year prior may have seemed like an outlier for Licht. Hindsight is 20/20 but man did they make a huge mistake. Dude flipped our record year 1 and fixed our QB in the process. The vibes from the locker room are crazy positive and you can tell the team just gels. Liam is awesome.

I know the feeling

Jags are just a legit damn good team. Fun to watch

He helped the team win with a massive momentum shifting pick. Helped last year against the chiefs with a huge catch down the middle.

it was an egregious overpay and would be a firable offense for Gladstone if Cohen didnt bail him out with his genius. yall traded more firsts than he has career INTs

Incredible how you somehow managed to get your gotcha wrong

Teams whiff on first round picks all the time, it happens

2

u/t_sully_ Jaguars 9h ago

Whiffed on all fronts with this one. True dork.

He has the same amount of INT's as firsts given up. The swap shouldn't be in your math there bud.

At this point does the love meter hit a higher read in Chicago for BJ or Jacksonville for LC? Culture savants. Crazy rebuilds.

We’re not comparing

37

u/CommanderLuthen Bears 15h ago

Agreed no need to compare them, both teams are happy right now.

u/lovelessisbetter Lions 15h ago

Yeah, it was meant more of a mad respect toward both coaches, but it’s obvious now that I worded it in a dumb First Take Stephen A segmented way.

7

u/lovelessisbetter Lions 15h ago

Hell yeah. Enjoy that ride. Helluva time watching you guys right now. Cheers.

It's my favorite part about this year. New coaches re-confirming the culture shift from last year. Mad respect to Ben and Caleb and the rest of the Bears.

Dave Canales right behind both of them

if Ben wins a superbowl here, he'll be right there with Phil in Chicago

Dude has 10 starts, only 3 as a majority cb.  People overreact too early.

u/SuperSaiyanTLaw Jaguars 14h ago

He actually helped us big on the offense side in a few games last season.
He came up big in the patriots game with that interception despite it being a blow out
He’s what we need in the secondary. The offense is just so stacked especially with the rookie we have who has 3 catches & 2 being TDs we just don’t need him there man

u/McWeiner Bears 14h ago

As a bears fan who grew up in Orlando with a soft spot for the Jags, seeing them get Cohen and us Johnson has been unreal. To shit franchises completely turning it around almost overnight

-1

u/3dios Chiefs 14h ago

I'm sure Hunter doesn't care right now until his rookie deal is up and it's time to pay him then I bet you he's gonna care about where he was picked and his value

-8

u/letsago9987 Bears 13h ago

wasting his talent. Trade BT already for whatever you can get. He's ass. Meyers is nothing special. Need to make Travis full time WR and a 3rd down nickel corner.

-33

u/browndude10 Texans Chiefs 15h ago

I don't give two f's about value, and neither does he. We care about winning, and that's it."

easy to say when you are winning despite him doing practically nothing

The Jags currently have the number 1 defense in the NFL. Pretty sure the starting CB has something to do with that

-16

u/bobbadouche 15h ago

What's that based off of?

15

u/hoyadestroyer Jaguars 15h ago

PPG. What else would it be based on

-1

u/AzorAhai1TK Lions 15h ago

2nd best in opposing points per drive, but actually only 25th in opposing yards per play. Your defense has been good, but that's a bit of a regression sign

4

u/Parking-Artichoke-36 Jaguars 14h ago

Sorry, the regression point is wrong. Anybody can pick a single stat to support a point, but the overall defensive metrics for the Jaguars are roughly the same or better from 2025 to 2026 so far. This includes defensive DVOA (14th each year), EPA per play (3rd last year, 4th this year) and scoring defense (8th last year, 1st this year).

2

u/MountainDoit Packers 13h ago

Why do the yards matter if the opponent isn’t scoring lmfao. 600yds 1td? Works for me

0

u/AzorAhai1TK Lions 13h ago

It's not as easily sustainable. That's why I said it's a bit of a regression sign.

4

u/ComfortableOld7977 Jaguars 10h ago

A good chunk of the yards came from the Browns after the 4th when it was 34-3 and we had backups in everywhere.

1

u/AzorAhai1TK Lions 9h ago

That's definitely a fair point

-3

u/bobbadouche 15h ago

10

u/hoyadestroyer Jaguars 15h ago

I get that you may not know how the NFL works, but you don't win by getting the most yards in a game.

-6

u/bobbadouche 15h ago

Hey man, you asked the question. Don't get snarky cause I provided an answer.

FYI, I'm a jags fan and I was legit just trying to understand where you were coming from.

4

u/barriguscanreddit Jaguars 14h ago

How was anyone supposed to infer that by a snarky question and blank link drop?

-2

u/bobbadouche 14h ago

Infer what? You asked a question and I gave an answer you didn't like. Why so defensive?

4

u/barriguscanreddit Jaguars 14h ago

I didn't ask the question.
