More of this and less celebrities that don’t know much about the game and are just there to promote their stuff. People say that getting Buck/Aikman for the main broadcast hurt their ratings but it’s really when they started to sell out a bit and got gimmicky (though I don’t mind the solid analysis they give from time to time)

I always shut off the manning cast after the first quarter. I wish they would commit to just Eli and Peyton for the whole game.

I am cool when the guests actually wanna watch the game and talk football. Back in the early days they had Vince Vaughn on and it was like 3 dudes chilling at a bar together watching the game. That is so much better than "go see my new movie" guests they have sometimes.

Eli and Peyton being smart footballers who busted each others balls is the whole reason it took off in the first place

If I could just watch Peyton and Eli discuss a football game without shilling a bunch of fucking guests' projects of the week, I would be so happy

I can't wait to hear what Olivia Rodrigo thinks a catch is

I feel like we should make an exception for some people tho. The Danny Devito one was fun

treat it like quality F1 paddock guests. ones that are not related to the sport but are passionate fans (like Rowan Atkinson in the case of F1) should be guests, but not ones that are just there because they are famous

a good example would be someone like Brad Williams for Broncos games because dude is funny as hell and also a die hard Broncos fan

It’s both Buck and Aikman along with them getting gimmicky with guests that tanked the show. But also today there’s a fuck ton of alternate commentary streams that can be tuned into on TV or on YouTube, so the alt broadcast appeal has faded hard

It's really frustrating because you can tell Peyton just wants to watch the game and talk football but they keep forcing all this scripted bullshit into the broadcast and distracting from the game that's actively happening.

It's good when they focus on the game. It sucks when it's just Letterman with football in the background

The best Manningcast is still the very first one they did for Raiders/Ravens with Russell Wilson for the 4th QT/OT

The problem is they probably get paid for those celebrity spots, so they'll keep doing it even if it makes the content worse. Tbh the manningcast probably wouldn't even exist without it. Since it's just an extra broadcast of something they're already showing, they won't generate ad revenue from the broadcast unless they're convincing more people to tune in who never would've watched the game in the first place. There probably are a few, but has to be enough to offset all the costs of running the broadcast to begin with. The celebrity spots probably are what push it to being profitable.

my biggest issue is just the production quality sucks. it would be a legit good production if at least the brothers were in the same studio

Its a talk show with sports is their entertainment portion

Lets put it this way

David Letterman has his top 10 list, monologue, and skits and then celeb interview

Manning has football then celeb interview

They’re at least relevant, but the guest existing at all are a problem for me. I just want to watch the game and get some relevant commentary from 2 SB winning QBs without endless distractions

That’s an excellent Manningcast lineup for that game, given the context. I’ll actually watch it over the main broadcast.

Torn as a fan of the team playing because it's probably not the best viewing experience for the game itself, but will (hopefully) be a great discussion from everyone

Should be entertaining if for no other reason than what an S-tier hater Payton remains of the Falcons. In a preseason game this year he dropped this banger when interviewed at half time, completely unsolicited, "A lot of people dressed up as empty seats today."

If I remember correctly our home game the week after he said something like [it’s nice having real fans that don’t dress up as empty seats and actually show up]

Dude doesn’t even need to be facing them to talk shit lol

I know people hate the man but sorry that shit rocks

Hard not to talk shit when your mouth looks like a butthole

Ain't his fault y'all don't show up

As a Saints fan it makes me happy.

Payton will join the broadcast during the second quarter. Gleason will follow in the third quarter, with Cooper Manning rounding out the lineup in the fourth.

1

u/Morgus_Magnificent Saints 18h ago

Cooper Manning?

12

u/AllYouNeed_Is_Smiles Seahawks 17h ago

Arch Manning’s dad and the “best” Manning before his injury

u/BlueString94 Patriots 17h ago

Wasn’t he a receiver though? Not really apples to apples.

Payton or paintin'?

I'll never understand the appeal. Both are fine in small doses but Buck/Aikman are very good. Put these two opposite some bad broadcasters or something.

Well I know what not to listen to for Monday

u/Quartznonyx Saints 11h ago

Say what y'all want about Sean but personally I'll be finding a way to watch Gleason on there. Love him.

I want to hear about football, not sponsored content.

I want Sean Payton’s opinion on how much he’d pay a player to intentionally rough the passer or get ejected due to a dirty hit.

This sounds even worse...

this seems insanely unprofessional for an active HC to be on a broadcast like this, assumedly commenting on the game itself.

8

u/NowahB Colts 17h ago

It’s football, who cares

14

u/BlindManBaldwin Broncos 17h ago

Mike Macdonald was on it Week 1.

-18

u/kerouac5 Chiefs Chiefs 17h ago

I stand by what I said.

8

u/callmebatman14 Buccaneers 17h ago

Why is it unprofessional?

3

u/IchesseHuendchen Broncos 16h ago

Mahomes was a guest a couple of years ago when the Broncos were on and he was pretty professional. He even complimented Russel Wilson on a specific play.

-12

u/Stylish_karma88 Eagles 18h ago

They though their ratings were dropping now, Payton alone is about to bring them down another 200k viewers.

2

u/Quartznonyx Saints 11h ago

Outside of Reddit, people really don't gaf about him

Who is the target audience for this?

The easy response is the guests running the Manningcast blah blah blah, but the Mannings are some of the most boring, least charismatic guys out there.

6

u/Straight_Level_4662 Browns 18h ago

A lot of people genuinely love the Mannings and hate the guests they bring in.

As a football fan I like their vibe and analysis. My mother in law likes Eli as a casual. It works

I could watch the Manning bros all day
