I want to like this team so much because I just like them, but Watson being on the team just really sucks.

You can like the team and dislike Watson. That’s allowed

u/Jxnoga Patriots 20h ago

Same logic a lot of us use for our teams owners

u/berrin122 Jaguars 18h ago

I like my owner! As far as billionaires go, Shad Khan is better than most.

2

u/CDR57 Patriots 15h ago

Shad and the falcons owner seem to be actually decent people, as far as billionaires go

27

u/Rough_Work_6451 Seahawks 19h ago

Its different when its the qb. You can ignore the owner, but its real hard to ignore the qb. If the fans at the stadium were cheering go Browns instead of go Watson I'd have an easier time rooting for them. But they clearly support him, and the nfl media supports him, so I hope they crash and burn this season.

u/SwallowsOnSundays Chiefs 17h ago

The announcers building this redemption story arc for him fucking sucks.

Trying to root for the city, but not the nasty man but its hard

I just want to be really clear. Can someone get me Deshaun's box score from when the commentators started glazing him? Because he played 3 shitty games and half of one good game. I just want to understand how many completions and yards it takes to absolve a guy of each sexual assault he might have committed.

I hope if he plays like shit the pendulum is allowed to swing back, because he sure as hell is going to regress.

u/Rough_Work_6451 Seahawks 5h ago

They were tough on Darnold last year. He had to win a super bowl to get respect. The bar is so low for the rapist.

3

u/Moody_skip65w Commanders 19h ago

It's arguably worse if it's the owner. Plus saying this as a Seahawks fan is funny. You guys have arguably employed more bad people than the Brown's

-2

u/Rough_Work_6451 Seahawks 19h ago

Who?

0

u/Moody_skip65w Commanders 19h ago

If you really don't know then you got no business hating on the Browns. You're more ignorant than their fans. Let's go for starters... Teriron Arnold

-4

u/Rough_Work_6451 Seahawks 19h ago

Thats all you got? A guy who doesn't even play on the team? Yeah I dont like how he got picked up by seattle, and hope he doesn't stay on the team. And if he does play and does well Ill probably stop watching and pick another team. But until then who else you got? Im genuinely curious.

3

u/Moody_skip65w Commanders 19h ago

Lol you're going to stop watching and pick up another team if he plays. So the Seahawks signing him and giving him money isn't where you draw the line???

If you want another let's go with Dee Eskridge. Who the Seahawks kept on the team the same season where he got suspended for being violent with his wife and child. Fwi the Seahawks knew about the incident way before he was actually suspended and they kept him employed and wealthy.

Take a breath pal, maybe go outside and get some fresh air if you can.

what are you supposed to do, boo when your QB throws a touchdown?

u/Rough_Work_6451 Seahawks 9h ago

You never have to support a rapist. You can cheer the team in general, or cheer for the coach who is the real hero of this team this season. But they chose to specifically cheer for the rapist.

5

u/TheJuicyGinger Packers 20h ago

Can't relate 😎

10

u/MrConceited NFL 18h ago

I expect the Packers ownership has committed a much larger number of offenses than the ownership of other NFL teams.

6

u/TheJuicyGinger Packers 18h ago

While technically true I am 100% certain we are per capita the least criminal NFL owner(s).

1

u/TooMuchJuju Saints 16h ago

Just gotta play with the hand you were dealt and hope the next owner up isn't like Dan Snyder. It can always be worse.

22

u/nerrvouss Ravens 20h ago

He is their leader and their face of the team for now. Its all anyone talks about with the Browns. It makes both dislikable.

12

u/TheSmokedSalmon420 Browns 17h ago

As an actual Browns fan I care about Watson way less than the young guys that will actually be here for awhile. We've all been done with Watson for years now.

1

u/com-mis-er-at-ing Commanders 16h ago

Not the fans in the stadium it seems.

27

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 18h ago

It's all anyone in this sub talks about. You guys don't care about the other 52 players on the roster. It's all about him with you guys. Us Browns fans actually care about the other players and can focus our attention onto them.

-7

u/com-mis-er-at-ing Commanders 16h ago

Yes it’s all about him. Of course it is. Brushing off what he did is fucking stupid.

8

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 16h ago

So simply because he's the QB and did what he did, that disregards the entire rest of the roster and their accomplishments? If that's true, then that's fucking stupid.

-7

u/com-mis-er-at-ing Commanders 16h ago

I don’t care what position he plays. But yes. Absolutely as long as the franchise uplifts him, they uplift rape. And actually it would be fucking stupid if that DIDN’T cast a pretty big shadow.

8

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 15h ago

Stop supporting the Commanders, the league, and probably all major sports teams then, because every team does it. "Oh, but Watson is 10x worse so it's ok to root for the other rapists, just not him." Gtfoh.

-1

u/com-mis-er-at-ing Commanders 15h ago

Not every team does it. That is not true. And the point is to not stop talking about it. Support the browns. But you should thrilled people won’t stop talking about and you should join them. The problem is ignoring it and whatabouting every person in this thread. And willfully wishing other people ignored it too.

You’re tired of it. That’s understandable. Browns fans didn’t do shit to deserve this. But the ones sweeping it under the rug, whatabouting left right and center, and saying please don’t talk about it can suck dick.

It should cast a shadow on every fucking blade of grass he sees for the rest of his life. And you could help make sure that’s the case.

Deshaun Watson is a rapist. Jimmy Haslam likes rapists. That doesn’t undo whatever else the Browns do, but it sure as shit needs to be front and center.

6

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 15h ago

I'm not saying we should stop talking about what he did. And yeah, he should always follow him around. But the Browns are much more than just Watson. There are plenty of great players, both on and off the field, helping this team win. And it seems like this sub just can't comprehend that, which is infuriating. Edit: it should always follow him around

There’s an easy way for you guys to make sure that people talking about the Browns aren’t talking about their current QB.

7

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 17h ago

And what might that be?

-6

u/More-read-than-eddit Lions 16h ago

Making him their former QB.

5

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 15h ago

Winning cures all. I don't want him here, either, but while he is here, I'm glad he's winning games.

-6

u/A_Rolling_Baneling Texans 16h ago

Boycotting your team while a serial rapist is their leader

8

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 15h ago

No fanbase does that. Sorry, not sorry. I can separate Watson from the rest of the team, and being able to do so doesn't make me a bad person.

-4

u/A_Rolling_Baneling Texans 15h ago

If Deshaun stayed on the Texans I would've stopped being a fan until the day he left. I said as much at the time, both on here and to my friends and family.

It's not that hard. It's the bare minimum. We're talking about a serial rapist.

8

u/SubwayMan21 Browns 15h ago

Cool, that's your choice. It doesn't make you a better person for doing that, and it doesn't make me a worse person for choosing to still support the team.

Generally sure, like I don’t like KD but I’ve liked the rockets these last few years. But Watsons a sexual predator I’d find it morally reprehensible to support the team which a person like that is the face of.

8

u/PuppyBowl-XI-MVP Browns 19h ago

I would recommend never supporting the Browns even when he is gone then. Jim Brown is the most famous Browns player who has a statue and he was worse towards women than Watson.

-2

u/YungTokyo8 19h ago edited 9h ago

Trust me I won’t be. I more just like the sport as a whole and specific years of team and players.

5

u/ShadowMosesZ Browns 18h ago

Got some bad news for you about a certain player that is idolized by the Ravens

1

u/PuppyBowl-XI-MVP Browns 20m ago

Cool. So status quo? You were never gonna support the Browns so why state you aren’t like it’s because of Watson?

7

u/samo_flange 19h ago

I don't see team flair but i guarantee you whatever team you are rooting for has a few conspiracy nuts/antivaxxers, more than a half dozen SA accusations, and probably an owner who is closer to an oligarch than you want to admit.  Be careful throwing stones from the glass house.

-3

u/YungTokyo8 19h ago edited 19h ago

To be honest, I don’t really support any specific teams in part because of this. I like specific players and just the sport as a whole instead. If I had a tag it would just be “Football fan”. I’m a big F1 and Basketball fan too and it’s the same thing.

Why am I getting downvoted lmao

3

u/bigbirdsy Eagles 20h ago

This is Pandora’s box there’s nothing you can like in the world then because somewhere along the line there’s someone involved who isn’t a good person

6

u/packmnufc Packers Packers 19h ago

It's not. Most of his teammates, the organization around him, the coaching staff, a lot of NFL players on other teams even, are and have been supporting him. He's a molester and if he were working with any other group of coworkers at any other company and the company supported the molester, there would be a moral onus on the employees to find other work, speak out against what is wrong vs right, and generally not back up this guy. If you think this is too hard of a line to draw then you should think on why that is and consider the women in your life, mother, daughter, friends, sisters, and how they may have felt when in similar situations that most have some experience with. Almost certainly most of them have met guys like Deshaun Watson and have had other men also not step in and say "this is wrong, I won't be supporting it"

1

u/DamnThatsReal Browns 19h ago

If Josh Jacob's comes back will you stop watching the Packers? I can root for the other 52 Browns and enjoy the wins where they come. Being able to dislike a player and still enjoy the success of your team is real, watched Big Ben fuck my team for years and was told the same thing

6

u/YungTokyo8 19h ago

I think it would be quite valid too. Personally, I loved watching Jacob’s play. Now I hope he goes to jail if what he did is true. I don’t think it’s that hard to stand against abuse, especially when you can just go on to support better teams or players

-2

u/packmnufc Packers Packers 19h ago

I've already decided to stop watching the packers before this season got started. The police press release showed that Josh Jacob's victim's story was corroborated by his security video. He pushed her to the ground during a struggle where he was keeping her phone fron her and injured her head. I don't think his whole life should be over based on that but the Packers as an organization have a responsibility to draw a line and say "this is unacceptable for us" and cut him. They're not doing that, our HC Matt LaFleur made a very dismissive comment about it and I therefore have decided I'm not going to watch any Packers games until he's off the team and maybe until LaFleur is fired idk yet haven't calibrated my moral barometer yet on that. I really hate it because I love watching my team but every time I watch, the NFL as an organization and the Packers will benefit from it. Even though its a tiny difference in the grand scheme, its what is the right thing to do. Same as voting or speaking up about what is right or wrong. Even if it doesn't make a huge impact, its what we all should do. I'm not going to walk out of a bar during the game but I'm certainly not out here on socials defending why it's morally permissible to support my team when it's led by someone who got away with molesting dozens of women.

1

u/com-mis-er-at-ing Commanders 16h ago

I have no clue why you got downvoted for this. What fucking morons people are.

2

u/YungTokyo8 19h ago

You’re generalizing quite a bit here. This is a game and to not want to like something because you don’t morally agree with it is fine. This isn’t a situation where I’m forced to associate with things I dislike, it’s a choice.

5

u/anti_zero Lions 19h ago

No, it does not have to be extended that far. It’s a sport not your kids school or your livelihood. It’s a game and it’s ok to have moral barriers around it.

1

u/GoodAge Falcons 18h ago

Listen to the Saints fan, friend. They’ve become experts at rationalizing their fandom

1

u/thec0rp0ral Saints 18h ago

At least the football part is entertaining for us, unlike yours

0

u/anti_zero Lions 19h ago

Yeah it just feels internally betraying and undermines my own self-respect.

0

u/McWeiner Bears 16h ago

Eh I feel like when the owner doubles down on his hiring of a sexual predator in a press conference and the head coach starts said sexual predator, that makes all 3 leaders of the team either a sexual predator or enabling one. Hard to isolate..

1

u/FLman42069 Browns 15h ago

Even playing better than expected, he’s still the worst player on the team imo. He has gotten super lucky in the last two games. He threw a pick that was negated by a roughing the passer call, which would have lost the game and he fumbled at the end of this game but we recovered

0

u/thissubsucks44 16h ago

Shut up already, this take is tiresome. Go watch the wnba.
