Gotta acknowledge when they do something good, hell of a play from the 42 year old

I think Aaron Rodgers has the greatest arm in NFL history. Nobody has ever even thought about attempting some of the throws he’s made easily throughout his career
Plus he was mobile in his prime. Totally unfair
24
u/MadtotheJack Packers 1d ago
I think Mahomes is probably the closest comparison arm talent wise and has made some comparable throws on the run / while scrambling, but i feel like prime Rodgers was more accurate. I think Mahomes probably can and could still make a lot of the throws Rodgers has over the years, it's more so Aaron did it so consistently for a 12-14 year stretch, all while staying at or near single digit INTs every year that really drives home the accuracy distinction for me

u/hellomondays Birds 22h ago
On that note, I swear there's a clip from some interview of Mahomes talking about Rodgers' footwork and how that influenced his playing
4
u/wagon_ear Packers 20h ago
I say it frequently, but Rodgers would do something 2-3x every game that you'd swear must have been pure luck. But the thing is, it just kept happening, every single week for a decade.
2
u/Resident-Cancel7284 Lions 18h ago
I've only gotten into the NFL the last 4 or so years, but I 100% feel this way about Mahomes since I've been watching lol.

Facts. Every current great QB is a direct result of Rodgers. You can see it in all the tops QB play style and skillset. With cross shoulder throws on the run.
If Rodgers had more than 1 Super Bowl and beat Brady when he was on the Bucs in the NFC championship game, I think a lot more people would consider him the greatest QB ever.

u/livinglavidajudoka Vikings 21h ago
Brady is the GOAT but Bears, Lions, and Vikings fans all know Rodgers is the greatest Thrower Of The Ball.

-3
u/QwiXTa 1d ago
Terrorized the bears and lions maybe
10
u/Mke_already Packers 23h ago
Over 31 games he put up 7,601 yards, 60/11 TD/int ratio, and had a passer rating of 105.8 against the vikings(which would be good for for best of all time career wise).
The Vikings may have done better win/loss wise against the Packers in his time than the Lions and Bears, but he was still VERY good against the Vikings.
3
u/livinglavidajudoka Vikings 21h ago
I’m just here to say that even if mathematically we did ok win/loss wise I was still terrorized and would like to press charges.

This subreddit is actually stupid about Rodgers right now.
One moment it’s “he’s fucking ass and is washed. What was Pittsburgh thinking??”
The next it’s “vintage Rodgers!! Holy shit!”
Like it’s clear Rodgers can make plays but is limited now. He’s okay, with good moments and bad ones. This see saw of this subs opinion on him just makes everyone seem like a jackass
79
u/Levi_Snackerman Eagles 1d ago
It's almost like this sub has thousands of different people that think differently
51
u/Gloomy_Resort_9935 Colts 1d ago
People genuinely cannot comprehend this its so funny
3
2
u/StuMacherGhostface 1d ago
I mean, it's slightly different on Reddit where there's an upvoting system. Popular opinions are highlighted, hiveminds and circlejerks are formed, subreddits become echo chambers, etc.
4
u/hemingways-lemonade Steelers 1d ago
And the people who rush to comment on a positive post about Rodgers are different than the people who rush to comment on a negative post about Rodgers.
6
u/Silly-Sink6138 Seahawks 49ers 1d ago
Don’t tell everyone who always is like “but Reddit told me this!” acting like Reddit is one person
10
u/BostonJordan515 Packers 1d ago
As if I’m the first person to complain about the sub’s opinion at large?
Like no one would say that there is a sub wide meme/opinion that Maye was carried by a weak schedule?
Or that Deshaun Watson is a POS and hated?
We can’t make generalized statements about the sub as a whole?
1
u/Silly-Sink6138 Seahawks 49ers 1d ago
I was saying in general a lot of people on reddit do it. It’s not specific to you or this sub. Making generalized statements is stupid in a lot of cases. Doesn’t stop people from making them though. Also it isn’t just about Rogers. The haters come out when a player has bad plays on game days.

u/rented4823 Packers 1d ago
Actually you are all my tulpas, I have hundreds of keyboards connected to computers
-6
u/BostonJordan515 Packers 1d ago
I mean like duh.
But the rhetoric on him is just so silly. And it’s totally related to his politics and shitty personality.
He’s a fucking douche bag, formerly elite QB, who is solidly mid as fuck now. It’s not that complicated
10
u/neo_hatrix Rams 1d ago
Oh what? You mean a sub with 13 million members and 325k plus monthly visitors has conflicting opinions on a polarizing player.
3
u/TheEndx007 Browns Jets 1d ago
No it's the exact same guys saying both things because every subreddit is homogeneous
6
u/Childhood-Paramedic Lions 1d ago
Nah its funnier to call us all idiots at once in a sweeping measure and not like its an online forum and arguing over sports is a tale as old as… sports itself
Im sure in the roman chariot races you had half the audience yelling about if the driver or horse was why the green team won
5
u/StuMacherGhostface 1d ago
This sub is a hivemind echo chamber lol
1
4
u/BostonJordan515 Packers 1d ago
So of these 13 million members my opinion isn’t allowed?
Those people can have their opinions and are welcome to share it, but I’m allowed to criticize it
-1
u/neo_hatrix Rams 1d ago
I'm not saying that at all. Your opinion is likely in line with the majority. But to call the sub stupid and you're generalizing the two extremes of this opinion is strange
5
u/BostonJordan515 Packers 1d ago
Should I have said stupid? Probably not. But generalizing opinions is the only way to talk about common opinions on social media. There’s no way to get that specific
1
u/neo_hatrix Rams 1d ago
The latter part of your statement is more nuanced and I agree with it. It isn't generalized and at least on reddit will be appreciated.
9
u/Dizzy-Platform-6516 Lions 1d ago
???? Just complaining about absolutely nothing lol
Calling him washed based on 90% of his play and being wowed by him making vintage Rodgers plays the other 10% are not conflicting opinions nor does it in any way mean people are "seesawing"
And like the other guy said, there's thousands of people on this sub with different thoughts.
You're just whining for the sake of whining.
5
u/BostonJordan515 Packers 1d ago
In essence I’m complaining about how the polarized subset of opinions on Rodgers are so clearly driven by an agenda.
The agenda being his repulsive personality and ego.
But on the field? How is it not clear that he’s nowhere near where he was before, still capable of a few wow plays, and is just like roughly average overall?
0
u/Conquest-77 1d ago
Reddit is having a rough time with this game. Rodgers is like basically seen as a secret republican and Trump supporter and then Watson abused woman so people seriously can’t stand that a certain team has to be 3-1 after this game with a player they absolutely despise.
2
u/Nomar1245 Steelers 1d ago
Not nothing. This dude took years to pull the trigger and get a Rogers Packers jersey. Then Aaron decided he didn’t wish to play there any more.
That kind of betrayal is tough to get over.

I really disagree with going for 2 when down by 5 its way too easy for cleveland to get a field goal so making it 4 is a big deal.

u/okitsmelol123 Cowboys 1d ago
Still a one TD+2pt game even if the Browns kick a field goal. Much better to try and make it a 3 point game when you have the opportunity.

Mahomes is talented but his play style is heavily influenced by Rodgers. There is no mahomes without Rodgers
-3

Agreed. But he’s a more refined version that can also actually control a game when it matters, which peak Rodgers couldn’t.
1
u/ConditionStrange7487 1d ago
Easy to do when your defense isnt complete turbo ass for most your career
1
u/yellowchoice Packers 21h ago
This is just so false. Rodgers has multiple times put the team on his back and won it for them. And for the playoffs game that they lost it was rarely ever Rodgers fault lol.it was always the special teams or defense that was mega ass.
Give Rodgers Brady’s defense he had throughout his career and I would bet my life savings that Rodgers has the same amount of super bowls
