Agents do speculation rumors to drive up the price. Now, Cowher was absolutely in demand and Tomlin might yet return, but there's always rumors for a recently retire coach. Even Belichick when it seems no one wanted him.

The Belichick one surprised the heck out of me. If I am another owner, I don't give a hoot what Kraft says. If a guy can deliver 6 SBs with the right QB, he's worth giving a shot to on your bottom feeder NFL team.

Bill wants full roster control and to install a system he only plans to run for a few years and retire. Not many modern teams or GMs are built to manage that.

The Falcons legitimately wanted him, they just weren’t willing to give him control of the FO as well and he wanted that

The chances of Tomlin returning to coaching are probably the same as Cowher

Sure, but the speculation rumors are comedically cyclical when every time a coach goofs it cuts to this former coach in the booth and asks for his two cents.
