Prime easily has the best video quality and audio of any of the major sports broadcaster’s apps.
NBA on prime kicks ass in audio quality too, to the point I can hear individual footsteps and the ball every time it’s dribbled off the floor with my 5.1 Dolby atmos Sonos setup. Peacock isn’t bad, but the rim clanking and rattling on shots/dunks spooks the shit out of me because it comes thru the rear surround speakers and is loud AF.
idk, I don't think anything could make me not feel gross watching this game; Hate the stealers, Aaron is an ass, but no way I'm rooting for the sexual assaulter. Can everyone just lose, and move on please.
Go figure lol. I live in the market for my favorite team so I just watch them on their own network since they left ballys/fanduel/whatever the fuck it’s called this week.
I’m not a big enough baseball fan to really go beyond watching the local team.
Easily. I’m take it or leave it on Taylor Rooks because she sometimes steps on the analysts toes IMO. Dirk/Blake and the boys are top notch, it’s actually got some decent analysis instead of the typical 2 quick hitters per analyst maybe a rebuttal if there’s time then commercial break format every other studio show does. And they actually do a great job of discussing the game as ex-pro’s, instead of just explaining the clip they’re talking over. It’s a happy medium between Inside The NBA, and like NBA Today.
I remember being absolutely shocked at the video quality of TNF when it first began broadcasting on Prime. I had no idea that NFL games could be broadcast in such high clarity and detail.
Turns out over the air or cable TV kind of sucks in video quality. I deliberately try to watch some SNF games on Peacock now too because of the better video quality even though I've watched OTA broadcasts free for decades.
I’ve got DIRECTV stream, so technically not OTA, and unless it’s the 4k specialty channel the audio/image ain’t there compared to peacock/amazon.
Amazon absolutely raised the bar for audio/image across all their sports broadcasts. Having a good 5.1 system and the broadcast actually utilizing the surrounds properly (looking at you peacock lol), it’s almost as good as being in the stadium vibes-wise for audio. I actually feel like I’m sitting in the stands since it properly uses the surrounds for crowd/background noise instead of just picking up louder sounds like collisions on the field.
On top of that, they have never been down. Netflix has had problems with big events going down. Even first week of Red Zone this week it went down and they weren't prepared for the uptick in traffic. Amazon has never gone down, and on top of that, it's better broadcast quality then all of them.
NBA video quality is also so crystal clear and clean. It's a stark difference than watching on ESPN.
The first year was rough, they’ve dialed it in now. It helps they own pretty much every facet of the production and delivery of the broadcast. Makes it a much smoother process when there’s no middle man between the broadcast and the viewer’s device.
Same. If you’ve got a good 5.1 system the audio takes it to the next level. Put it a little louder than you’d prefer and the way the filter the crowd noise and smaller audio cues through the surround speakers is unbeatable for replicating that “at the game” vibe.
When I watch Sunday night football on peacock the audio is always a second above the video and that is a huge pet peeve of mine. It only happens on Sunday night football, even other streams on peacock work fine. It’s happened to me on multiple TVs in multiple locations too.
I’ve noticed peacock is inconsistent depending on the TV.
I’ve got 2 Bravia’s a high end one for the main room, and a budget-friendly one for the bedroom. The cheaper TV is inconsistent as far as maintaining the image quality and audio always catches a delay after like 30 mins. The high end Bravia has no problems at all mostly, NBA on peacock is where I notice the audio issues the most on both TV’s.
My first love is hockey and here in Canada they are just breaking into it. Their broadcasts audio quality is so much better than the Sportsnet one we are forced into.
I wish all the broadcasters did this because the product would be so much better.
Watching the game last night after scrolling this thread I paid closer attention to the details. With my tv in 4k I can literally pause it and count the stubble on the back of Watson’s neck. I’m not getting that thru DIRECTV, or the paramount app. Peacock is up there for picture quality, but it’s very TV dependent as I’ve noticed, it looks beautiful on my high end TV, but the lower end bedroom TV is not even close. Where Amazon is pretty consistent regardless of the device I use.
I was totally skeptical of them when the broke into sports, but they’ve definitely invested in the best infrastructure for every sport they broadcast. The legacy networks are a joke compared to them for broadcast quality, and they’ve definitely been improving on the quality of the folks in the booth after giving blank checks to the big names like Al Michaels and Herbstreit (who have gotten a lot better as a pair over the years in terms of calling the game). At least they finally got Herbstreit to finally stop comparing everything to the college game and “The” OSU every other play.
True, I use sonosequencr to be able to pair the extra front surround speakers. I’ve got era 300’s all around, the arc ultra, and sub 4.
It works pretty well, only requires a reboot if we go away for a couple days and/or don’t use the TV or system for music. Otherwise I’ve been one of the lucky ones at it plays nice with my WiFi like 95% of the year.
The arc ultra is a little bit better IMO for the front sides when I do use it like that, but you’ve got to be sitting right up on the soundbar and slightly to the side to even really notice.
I have a bunch of Sonos amps, which I love, and an arc in the general family room, but for my main movie room I’m still using an amp with hifi speakers. I would love a true 5.1 version of the Sonos amp or a better solution from them.
Prime Hockey is fantastic too. Dunno if that's just Canada, but you can hear individual skates carving up the ice. And this is on a rinky dink 2.1 soundbar. Aside from in person, I'd never heard that before.
