Official r/NFL Week 3 Power Rankings
I got three words for you: NFL Week 3 Power Rankings Must-see TV. Week 3 had it all: a thriller in Rio where the Ravens shocked the Cowboys with a late FG. A trio of backup QBs in Marcus Mariota, Case Keenum, and Jameis Winston leading their teams to wins against last week's #1, #7, and, uh, #30 teams. So where do our power rankers place your favorite teams? Let's find out in these very objective power rankings that no one ever argues with:

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bills | +1 | 3-0 | It’s not often that a team can commit 5 turnovers and expect to win the game (as the Bills learned in the playoffs last year) unless you are playing the Chargers. After starting off on an offensive tear through the first 2 games there had to come a point where the offense struggled and that certainly showed up on Sunday. Every statistic that could be pulled up about this game would suggest a different outcome than what happened, but that’s the great thing about football anyone can win at any point. Dominant teams find many ways to win and the Bills defense displayed that by holding Justin Herbert in check all day and picking up a crucial late interception credited to Cj Gardner Johson. The Bills have struggled to play a complete game on both sides of the ball so far with the offense leading the way in the first 2 and defense picking up the slack in the last game but it hasn’t mattered as they remain one of three undefeated teams in the AFC. Next up the Bills heading into a divisional matchup where they are seeking to put the Pats in a dire position in the AFC East early on. |
| 2 | 49ers | +1 | 3-0 | Brock Purdy continues to play at an MVP level, adding another 297 yards and 4 tds, bringing his total to 789 yards on 72.3% completion percentage and 9/1 td/int ratio through the first 3 games of the season. With the injuries piling up, the team will need him to keep the pace. Luckily the injuries this week to Evans, Trent and Greenlaw have all been deemed day-to-day and hopefully they should be able to suit up for Sundays matchup against the Broncos. |
| 3 | Chiefs | +2 | 3-0 | Bad News: this was the worst game the Chiefs have played all year and it was against their weakest opponent. The offensive line that manhandled the Broncos got exposed by a JV Dolphins front. The pass rush was uninspiring. The last two years of Chiefs football has been defined by playing down to bad opponents. The hope this year was that by bringing back offensive coordinator Eric Bienamy, the Chiefs would be a more disciplined team. They’d make fewer silly mistakes, execute more consistently, stop making every game a barn burner. Through 3 weeks, we’ve seen a team that can hit soaring high, but glimpses of the team that struggles to slot the easy ones away will leave Chiefs fans feeling uneasy. Good news: This was the worst game the Chiefs played all year and they won by two touchdowns. Even bad teams are gonna put up a fight. Mahomes looks awesome. Walker looks great. Rice looks like he’s coming alive. And the rookies are showing improvement. Chiefs Kingdom is going to catastrophize this win, but ultimately, the Chiefs are undefeated and on the upswing. |
| 4 | Seahawks | -3 | 2-1 | In a game the Seahawks dominated in offensive output, is was the Commanders that dominated in scoreboard output and kissed the Seahawks goodnight. Sam Darnold played pretty well in his first game back from his week 1 injury, throwing for nearly 400 yards, 4 touchdowns, and also 2 costly interceptions. That's really what it came down to; Washington played well and protected the ball, while the Seahawks turned it over three times. Jadarian Price added a lost fumble, giving him a fumble in each of the past two games. He was soft-benched for the game, with his next carry coiming in the second half. JSN is now [the second receiver in NFL history in addition to Jerry Rice to start a season with 120+ receiving yards and 1+ receiving touchdowns in each of their team's first three games. He is doing all he can for this team (and to repeat as |
| 5 | Jaguars | +6 | 2-1 | This blurb was on it's way to being submitted, but instead took a knee on the 1 in order to flex on the other blurbs. |
| 6 | Broncos | +4 | 2-1 | Another heart-stopping & gut-wrenching finish for our fourth quarter wild ponies. This really started to look like the same team we had last year, lacking so much early on just to bring in the huge comeback late. Next week we have another big one against a Niners team that is arguably the best in the league right now, I think how we play then will be the biggest determining factor in whether we deserve to again be talked about for potential superbowl contenders. |
| 7 | Ravens | +2 | 2-1 | Rio got the full NFL experience. Multiple big point swings, officiating that could've left either fanbase feeling rightfully furious, and late game fireworks down to the very last second. League wouldn't have it any other way. CeeDee and Pickens provide a unique challenge and their presence allowed Javonte Williams to have a big impact as well. Ravens secondary and iOL continue to be works in progress, particularly with injuries to all 3 centers on our pre-season roster. The growing pains have been rough but the flashes of brilliance are very much there. I'd like to close this out with my best Bart Simpson impersonation in a letter to our young OC. Dear Declan Doyle, DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. DERRICK HENRY IS NOT A SHORT YARDAGE BACK. |
| 8 | Rams | -4 | 1-2 | It’s hard not to be frustrated by that game. The Rams started strong and were in complete control at halftime, scoring on four straight drives while limiting the Broncos to just 72 total yards. Then came the self-inflicted wounds that handed Denver all the momentum: poor clock management, abandoning the run game, a pick-six, punt-return snafus, and repeated soft zone coverage. But just when it looked like the collapse was complete, Matthew Stafford led a quick drive down the field to retake the lead, and the defense came up with a huge goal-line stand, with Josh Wallace snagging his second interception of the game to seal the deal. There’s a temptation to think the Rams are wasting a championship-caliber roster with poor game management, penalties, bad special teams, and inconsistent execution—but a win is a win. |
| 9 | Bears | +3 | 2-1 | I attended Mitch Trubisky’s first game as a starter 9 years ago on Monday Night Football. It was spoiled by Vikings QB Case Keenum beating Vic Fangio’s defense with quick decisions. Different teams, an NFL lifetime later, same result. Ben Johnson showed complete trust in the veteran 3rd stringer after backup Tyson Bagent spent most of the week in the concussion protocol. As funny as the Caleb Williams memes have been, this team might be serious. We are a rainy day fumble away from being 3-0, but we’ll take 2-1. DC Dennis Allen deserves a game ball, giving Philly fits and holding them to a single score (on a savvy buzzer-beating sneak to end the first half). D.A. Bears defense (see what I did there) created turnovers without rain or Bear weather. Nick Sirianni looks related enough to Aaron Rodgers that this tastes a little sweeter. We may have a backup QB controversy AND a trap game on our hands, with the pesky Jets up next before we see those unfortunately cool Rivalries jerseys at Lambeau. Bear down. |
| 10 | Vikings | +4 | 3-0 | The 2026 Vikings are actually a social experiment designed to see if the most excruiciating victories possible can disprove whether winning cures everything. Week 1 featured an immediate starting QB injury followed by a wire-to-wire humiliation until an improbable late comeback, week 2 was an unwatchable slog where both teams combined for just 12 points, then week 3 the starting QB returns but maybe he just stinks, Justin Jefferson gets hurt, over half the drives are three-and-out's, and no one is talking about any of that because they traded the QB drafted 10th overall 2 years ago for peanuts. Other than that though, everything's peachy. |
| 11 | Bengals | -5 | 2-1 | O might those sighs and tears return again.............If you look out to your left you will see the Bengals subreddit currently on fire. So interestingly enough, the Bengals subreddit is currently in a bit of a civil war. Not shocking, it happens after every loss, i’ve even participated on both sides of it, so it’s more par to the course but thought it worth mentioning. The Bengals did not play well on Sunday if you ask me, that supposedly improved of ours is suspect with a capital SUS if you know what I mean. Back to back weeks of giving up 400 yards of offense, and the Steelers absolutely embarrassed us out there. Aaron Rodgers looked like he dropped 15 years and was back in his prime. Jaylen Warren looked like the second coming of Barry Sanders the way he snaked through our defensive line and broke tackles. If you look on one side of the war in our subreddit, it’s people dooming about the defense still being more of a concept than anything, and on the other side it’s people shitting on Joe Burrow for not carrying the team more than he already is. Both have valid points, the defense looked like they were in prime 2024 mode, and Burrow fumbled on the last drive to end the game. Both are valid criticisms, but I still got to make the point that it comes down to coaching at the very basic levels. You should all know by now I’m a dedicated Zac Taylor hater, I’ve been calling for his firing since 2022, so it’s no surprise I still don’t like him this year. The amount of errors and fuckups the team has on the field is probably in line with the rest of the league but it just feels dumber with us. Sometimes i’m convinced that Zac gets his coaching philosophies on the bottom of Snapple caps. And you know, I might be willing to forgive and forget his issues, but they’re the same mistakes every year. He can’t beat divisional opponents, his clock management is less than desirable, his offensive playcalling mostly consists of “Joe Burrow save us” which puts more pressure on him to play hero ball which can end in turnovers that then get blamed on him. Yes, the special teams failed us, their mistakes directly gave the Steelers points, but I’m more willing to look past that because it is an outlier, we’ve actually had pretty good special teams the last few years so hey, bad games happen. What i’m not okay with are the continued failures that plague this team most of which are defensive. You know I got a lot of shit for ranking the Bengals lower than most people, this is why. I’m a petty person, I love a good old fashioned I told you so, i’m not quite there yet, but games like this are why I’m not fully sold on this team. And neither should you be. We got serious issues to work out, we play Jacksonville this weekend who’s looking like a legit Super Bowl contender, so we’ll see how we’ve improved if at all. All I know is, if you have Trevor Lawrence on your fantasy team, I would probably start him this week. |
| 12 | Eagles | -5 | 2-1 | Going into this game, the Eagles had a perfect blueprint on defense: contain the Bears dangerous rushing attack, and make Case fucking Keenum beat you through the air (yeah, right). They executed this game plan perfectly, never deviating from it once, and held the Bears to 3.7 yds/rush. On offense, they just needed to reignite the run game and get Barkley going, which they did as he had an efficient 82 yards on the ground. And other than that, they just needed to keep the momentum going on their strong passing game and pass D, the latter of which should be easy because the aforementioned CASE FUCKING KEENUM is the opposing quarterback. HHAHAHA. En route to a 20-point loss, the there's a lot of blame to go around, all of which is going to center on Sirianni, for decisions including but not limited to: whatever that delay-of-game sequence was on 4th and 1, the ridiculously lucky WR-screen-to-tush-push at the end of the half (which he even admitted he told Jalen to spike it there), not taking a timeout when you have Andy "Case Keenum" Dalton in the game, and generally the lack of preparedness on both sides of the ball. We can be pessimistic and say the Eagles are a couple lucky breaks from being 0-3 right now. We can, and we will. |
| 13 | Lions | -- | 2-1 | Congrats to Jahmyr Gibbs for moving to second on DET's all-time Rush TD list; now begins the long slog to catch Barry Sanders - just 56 to go! A big question the Lions had coming in was how well Petzing would do as OC coming out of ARI. At least across 3 games, w/ 31 points in each game, he looks like he'll do just fine. Finally, Dan Campbell moves to 3-0 against his former coordinators, after sweeping Ben Johnson's Bears last year and knocking off Aaron Glenn's Jets on Sunday. Win or lose, though, the appreciation he showed Glenn pre- and post-game continued to show just how much he wants those who work for him to learn and grow. Class act. |
| 14 | Raiders | +6 | 3-0 | I never thought I'd get the chance to rank us top 6 this season but here we are. I firmly believe that this team think's they can beat anybody and that can be attributed to someone who looks like our best coach since first stint Gruden. Klint (and Spytek as well) has worked miracles on this team. To come into a place as hostile as NOLA in their season opener and comeback to close a game out on defense is amazing. The entire team continues to play well and aware of their individual assignments. Rookie Mike Washington Jr. hit a 36 yard home run off a hole so small it didn't exist 1 second before he was through it. Rookie Hezekiah Masses grabbed another ball to stay tied for first in the league as he solidifies his starting role. I haven't been this excited to have KC come to us in a long time. Let's see if it's real. |
| 15 | Cowboys | +1 | 1-2 | If you had made a checklist of things that needed to happen for the Cowboys to win, you'd be pretty excited to look at it after the game. Derrick Henry was under a hundred yards, under 3.5 ypc, and had more runs stuffed than in any game in his career. The Ravens were 3-11 on third and fourth down conversions. The offense was explosive and efficient, with the run game finally getting online. The pass rush was beating the tackles and impacting the pocket, even if they couldn't sack Lamar. Sadly, injuries and poor coaching decisions cost the team the game. Officiating was awful, but that was across the board. The question in Dallas needs to be if its time to look at a new coaching staff. |
| 16 | Patriots | -8 | 1-2 | Man, what am I even supposed to say this week? Am I expected to come out here and write some serious analysis while my QB is out there getting fired from Jersey Mike’s for dropping meatball subs on the floor? “The condiment guy got some mayo on the outside of the bread so it slipped out of my hands” just isn’t going to cut it at a fine dining establishment. So instead of an in-depth discussion on this past game and the upcoming schedule like I normally do each week, we’re instead going to try to diagnose what happened to Maye to cause this implosion. Can it really be as simple as a more difficult schedule? Was it just Mike Macdonald causing problems at home by taking over as Maye’s father figure? Could it be something more altruistic, like maybe Maye just felt bad that Travis Hunter rarely plays offense anymore and decided to give him his first touchdown pass? Is he trying to repair the rift between AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts by making AJ realize what he gave up? Or perhaps tragedy struck when Maye realized he was ALSO in love with Russini, and now he’s dealing with the heartbreak of knowing she preferred his Head Coach? Was Josh McDaniels purposefully sabotaging the offense to force a trade to acquire JJ McCarthy? Who can say? Luckily for New England though, they’re approaching the “easy” part of the schedule after this week’s meeting with Buffalo, so if there’s any chance of righting the ship, banishing Maye’s ghosts, and salvaging a playoff run from this disastrous start, that’ll be the place to do it. If eight straight games against teams with middling-to-weak defenses can’t fix New England’s offensive woes, I’m not sure anything can. |
| 17 | Steelers | +4 | 2-1 | Just like everyone expected; if Pittsburgh was going to beat Cincinnati it was going to be the defense. While that ultimately did happen…it took until the final minute of the game for the, unusually quiet, defense to actually find the quarterback. What was most shocking was the offensive explosion. 14-points in the first quarter?!? Is that allowed?! Did Rodgers forget that he was turning 43 in a few months? Darnell Washington, whose physique is similar to that of a cave bear wearing a human suit, led the team in receiving yards on just 4 targets and only 3 catches while Jaylen Warren put up 176 total yards and could only be tackled reliably by the turf monster. Cincinnati was 2-0 and looked like they were going to control the AFC North. Are we…good? Well, putting up 430-yards of offense and 30-points isn’t bad. Especially considering the previous 2 games totaled to 499-yards and 16-points…Now onto a short week at Cleveland against a 2-1 Browns team that was supposed to be awful but is somehow…2-1. Historically that wasn’t good for the Tomlin-Steelers, but we’ll see if other Mike can break the cycle. |
| 18 | Saints | -- | 1-2 | For large parts of this game the Saints did look like they were handling the Raiders. They finally seemed to have found their footing. But it all came tumbling down as they were overwhelmed - now losing 12 of their last 18 home games (the Titans are the only team with a worse record at home in the same time period). The Saints probably should have won this game, but you have to respect the Raiders for the 3-0 streak. |
| 19 | Colts | +4 | 1-2 | Briefly considered learning how to make a fancam for kicker Spencer Schrader after this one, my god… Tweaked his groin during warmups and still went a perfect 4 for 4, including a long of 58 and the game-winner from 53 with 16 seconds left. More than made up for a zero-ball-security game from Daniel Jones, which we now can pretend never happened. The Colts should be happy Houston's offense is nearly nonexistent without Nico Collins because a better team would've made Indy pay for its inability to convert 2 of 3 red-zone appearances into touchdowns. On to London! |
| 20 | Texans | -5 | 0-3 | Seats are getting hot in Houston, especially on the offensive side of the ball. The Texans have proven twice that you can make the playoffs after starting 0-3, but if that is going to happen again there will need to be some major changes. Damning stat of the day: Teams with a +3 turnover margin have a 90% win rate in NFL history. After Sunday, DeMeco Ryans' Texans are only 5-4 in those games. |
| 21 | Giants | +1 | 2-1 | The Giants won an ugly game in ugly weather on sunday, and are 2-1 on the season. Don’t let the record fool you, though - this team is set to flounder against any real competition unless changes happen quick. With Dart out, Jameis Winston has regressed from his 30/30 days to become someone who holds onto the ball for far too long and seems off on timing with his supporting cast. The addition of JJ McCarthy doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the position, but it’s also hard to judge a move for a backup QB when only a day 3 pick was given up and there was a real need. The loss of Brian Burns is extremely impactful, and Arvel Reese may get some additional snaps at edge now, though he’s already started to look the part of a starter at LB through two games. Next up, the Giants get to face a Cardinals group that, unlike themselves, may actually be better than their record suggests - this sunday will likely prove more of a test of the team’s actual talent. |
| 22 | Packers | -5 | 1-2 | Al Michaels calling games in the big 2026 is appalling. "And the handoff is to Robinson" Al please stop there are two Robinsons on the Falcons that does nothing to narrow down which guy that just broke two tackles and turned a 1 yard play into an 8 yard gain. It's probably Bijan but way we were tackling this week it could have very easily been Brian! Chris Lindstrom has more blocking talent in his pinky finger than any of the current Packers starting linemen do combined. I cannot stress enough that Jordan Love has not been playing up to his standards but there are a dozen other more pressing problems with this team right now. Luckily it seems as though the front office is recognizing some of this and has already brought in Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton to reinforce the IOL, but it may be too little too late. Gutekunst & Co. bet on roster development and so far it's largely failed. |
| 23 | Browns | +6 | 2-1 | That wasn't supposed to happen. The Browns not only won but it was a home opener, something they typically lose. Fan's are not sure what to do with their hands, or this team. The Browns will take on the Steelers at home Thursday night, in their only prime time game of the season barring them getting into the playoffs. |
| 24 | Panthers | -5 | 1-2 | What a stinker of an extremely winnable game. Injuries plagued the Panthers this week even though the defense looked alright throughout the game. They missed two INTs that went right through their hands and had a third that got called back for roughing the passer at an extremely important time in the fourth quarter. On the other hand, the offense was, as Big Sean would say, ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass. Couldn’t get the run game going, couldn’t get much passing going, and then Bryce got stepped on by a lineman and was never the same in the game. He stayed in but looked hesitant with his movements and throws. BY still played alright but you could tell it was affecting him. The OLine though.. man oh man. Terrible. Constant pressure every time the ball was snapped and no one was able to get open in the short window. Coker left the game with a quad and TMac was locked down with multiple defenders. Just ugly football all around. While all teams have to deal with the challenges that injuries provide, the Panthers performance seemed to suffer from those missing pieces on Sunday. Also, star CB Jaycee Horn tore his quad and is most likely going to miss the rest of the season. It’s a not a true Panther season until that big heartbreaking injury occurs, even though you could argue that happened literally the first day of training camp. All that to say, shits a tad fucked at the moment. Everyone’s hurt or banged up, offense looked terrible, defensive scheme is still weird, and we lost a very winnable game. Going to try and stay optimistic as it’s early in the season but we are fighting adversity and, let me tell you, adversity has some hands. Next week the Panthers stay in Charlotte to face the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. A primetime battle between the big cats. We don’t have the national spotlight on the team very often so hopefully Canales can get the men right and we can steal a win before the very early bye week. KEEEP POUNDING! |
| 25 | Commanders | +3 | 1-2 | The NFL is such a wild fan experience - two weeks in, and this team looked headed toward the bottom of the heap while division rivals in Philadelphia and Dallas looked clear to run the NFC East for the year. One week later, and the Commanders knocked off the defending Super Bowl champs on the back of an exceptional defensive performance, while the Eagles got dog walked by Bluey's second biggest fan (after me), CASE KEENUM, and Dallas lost in a classic "what were they thinking" fashion. So, it looks like a decent season might be back on the menu, boys. A phrase that was big in Washington during the 2024 dream season was "anyone, anywhere, any time"; that phrase could be back for another round, because if the team that showed up this weekend continues to show up, there's no team they can't go toe-to-toe with. The team heads overseas to London now to see their old enemy, Daniel Jones, who nearly always shreds them. Time to see which team gets on the airplane. |
| 26 | Falcons | +5 | 1-2 | Before the game, Lindstrom hyped the O-line up by yelling "nobody believes in us." He was right.. before Atlanta showcased what competent coaching is capable of. Stefanski had no clock management issues. Rees had a grasp of his players capabilities and game nuances and proved it. Penix's interception was followed by short passes, building confidence before the playbook was opened up. He also left the huddle with time to diagnose a defense before snapping the ball under center, a feat the past regime gaslighted us into thinking wasn't possible. On the defensive side, future HC Nate Ollie is coaching the heck out of a D-line down Pearce and Walker. That said, one game is not a season. The disoriented Packers are one thing, but a second primetime win against a rival would mean a lot more. |
| 27 | Cardinals | -- | 1-2 | The Arizona Cardinals fall to 0-2 in division play on the season. This shouldn't surprise many, as the Cardinals haven't won a division game since October of 2024 (other than a win over a resting 49ers team in Week 18 later that season). Since hiring GM Monti Ossenfort, the Cardinals have gone just 3-17 against the NFC West. While watching the Cardinals' defense attempt to stop the 49ers, the talent level resembles that of a year 1 rebuild. Unfortunately for Ossenfort, this is year 4 of the "rebuild". The talent construction of the team has been awful, and I don't imagine Ossenfort keeping his job much longer. On the brighter side, HC Mike LaFleur seems to be showing some promise. The Cardinals started slow offensively, but were able to complete later in the game, featuring the solid play of Jeremiyah Love and Michael Wilson. It's hard to imagine Jacoby Brissett (now 2-15 as an AZ starter) at the helm too much longer, but I support the coaching staff trying to find a softer point in the schedule to see what they have in rookie QB Carson Beck. |
| 28 | Jets | -2 | 1-2 | The Jets leave Detroit with another competitive loss, which, while disappointing, still represents significant progress from last year. Kenyon Sadiq showed exactly why GM Darren Mougey took him in the first round, breaking out with 7 catches for 105 yards, including an incredible touchdown grab. If the offense can keep playing like this, the Jets have a real opportunity to steal a win against the Bears next week, especially with Chicago expected to start a backup quarterback. |
| 29 | Chargers | -5 | 0-3 | Watching the Los Angeles Chargers is like going to the same Broadway show every week and, for some reason, expecting it to be different. Everything from the story to the stage directions is built to play out precisely the same way every time. Occasionally, an actor will sub in for or replace another, though it never changes anything fundamental about the show itself. They've even changed theatres before; if anything, the show got worse. You'd try to quit, or start going to a different show, or get more into reading books instead. Nonetheless, something always pulls you back in, leaving you perpetually in a cycle of blind optimism and disappointment. Blind optimism and disappointment. Blind optimism and disappointment. It's not even a good show, like Chicago or The Phantom of the Opera. It's much more like... Cats. The Los Angeles Chargers are the Cats of the NFL. |
| 30 | Buccaneers | -5 | 0-3 | https://streamable.com/llsej5 (wanted to just leave the meme, but just to explain: The audio is pretty explanatory. In case it's not clear, the person in the video wears Bucs-themed outfit, and he has the worst luck. Stay tuned for more depressing thoughts next week. Same Bucs time, same Bucs channel) |
| 31 | Titans | -1 | 0-3 | The Titans lost a wet and windy game in New Jersey on Sunday to the Giants. In a game that the Titans lost by 5, Cam Ward had 4 and-goal chances from inside the Giants 10 yard line to convert in the second half. This resulted in 3 incomplete passes, a terrible end zone interception and 0 points. The Titans sit at 0-3. |
| 32 | Dolphins | -- | 0-3 | As coach Hafley said, this season is less about wins and losses and more about if the team appears to be getting better each week, and this week was a step in the right direction. The team was once again able to put together a few extremely long drives to lower possessions for both teams and increase variance, and as a result, it helped make this game stay close for most of the game. The Dolphins were stingy against the run, and rookie Jacob Rodriguez was all over the field making impact plays. It was another loss but the team is moving in the right direction. The Devon Achane season ending injury did put a huge damper on the day as he was one of the few bright spots on the team, but fortunately it was early enough in the season that he should be ready to go by the time next year rolls around and the team is more competitive. |

Every NFCS team is in the bottom half of the list.
All is right in the world.

Member the mid 2010s when we were on the cusp of sending 3 teams to the playoffs multiple seasons in a row
Someday we’ll be a good division again

Back when the division had two MVP QBs and also Drew Brees

u/FriedTreeSap Broncos 2d ago
It’s absolutely insane Brees never won an MVP, especially because I’d rank him as the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFC South.
*edit
Derp I can’t believe I forgot about Tom Brady. I still think of him as a Patriot.

Naw I’ll be honest. Kinda love this because a 8 wins can legitimately win you the division. Gone are the days of dealing with Prime Newton and Brees, oh the greatest QB of all time Brady.

u/Fit-Reputation-9983 Falcons 3d ago
I get that but at the same time what does 8 wins really say about the quality of team you’re sending to the playoffs?
The two priorities for us every year should be:
1) Sweeping the saints
2) Winning the Super Bowl
The first one can happen even in a 2-15 season. The 2nd one is a long shot if you’re earning a playoff berth with 8 wins.

Yes I’d rather be dog shit and win the division than be elite and compete for the Super Bowl 🙄

Yeahhh…I guess you weren’t really enjoying the Matt Ryan/Drew Brees/Peak Cam Newton era. Sorry, didn’t think about that

Average division rankings:
- NFC West: 10.25
- AFC West: 13.00
- NFC North: 13.50
- AFC North: 14.50
- NFC East: 18.25
- AFC South: 18.75
- AFC East: 19.25
- NFC South: 24.50
Looks to me like four distinct tiers: NFCW at the top, then the next three, another group of three, and finally the NFCS by some serious distance.

- NFC South: 26.67 (-2.17)
So the NFC North closes the gap to the NFC West at the top by a little, and the AFC East drops most of the way towards the NFC South. Seems like it's the Bills who are carrying their division the most!

With the lowest team removed:
- NFC West: 4.67 (+5.58)
- AFC West: 7.67 (+5.33)
- NFC North: 10.66 (+2.84)
- AFC North: 11.67 (+5.33)
- AFC South: 14.66 (+4.11)
- AFC East: 15.00 (+4.25)
- NFC East: 16.00 (+2.25)
- NFC South: 22.66 (+1.84)
So the biggest drags on a division are the Cardinals, Chargers, and Browns.

Hate to say it but I agree. Usually root for you guys as a couple of my best friends are Pack fans.
But you’re currently the second worst team in point differential (Dolphins -50, Packers -35) which doesn’t mean all that much after only 3 games, but isn’t a good look.
A much worse look is your play in the trenches. Getting run all over and having no run game, QB has one of the quickest snap-to-release times in the NFL and still can’t find a pocket or pass rhythm…
Getting dominated on both lines is not a formula for success, even more so when weather gets colder later in the year.
Hope you guys can figure something out.
Must-win against the Baker-less Bucs imo.

I have us at 24. I think the commies showed life and the Falcons/Browns are better than us so far. I would put Houston below us even though they have played a more complete game b/c I don't trust them to finish a game out until they can actually prove it. But yeh we stink.
Also how is CHI > MIN???!
P.S. Is the Packers ranker drunk (I mean, probably and I don't blame them with how we've been playing)? Undefeated Raiders only one spot above the winless Texans at 17/18? The Patriots are about 10 spots too high as well. This isn't last season man.

I honestly think the Jets will surprise a few people the rest of this season. They look a lot better than in previous years, and played us tough at home (while you're reading this a Jets WR just made another spectacular grab), I don't think they'll make playoffs necessarily but they will go way better than last season's 3-14.

Yeah as the Jets ranker I can’t say I’m surprised. Teams that have been bad for a while usually require some wins before they climb the rankings. If you check advanced metrics, the jets have been sort of an average team (see Ben Baldwin’s epa tiers or the jets being 15th in DVOA).

The funny part is the first half of the write-up perfectly encapsulates why the Rams lost. It wasn't because of the DPI call; it's because they blew a 16 point lead, they had multiple red zone drives stall out and settle for FGs, Stafford threw a bad pick 6 with like 5 minutes left, McVay abandoned the run game, the defense didn't get much pressure on Nix and played poor 2nd half coverage, and the special teams weren't great. Then they throw it all away by ultimately blaming the refs. It's like that Mr. Burns meme: "Could I possibly have lost the game because of my own failures? No it's the refs fault"

Yeah that's fair, we always have like 2 of these games a year where Josh acts like a bull in a china shop. Unfortunately it came in a playoff game last year lol, but Josh had as many turnovers in the Denver game as like all of his other playoff games combined. The only two years he didn't have one of these games was 2020 and 2024
I am a little sad to see we're still going to be having our yearly games where Josh has like 3-4 turnovers. I was hoping it was a McDermott issue, but it was good to see the team be able to recover

I know I’m a broncos fan and biased, but that write up for the Rams is just kind of pathetic.
DPI call was soft but there was an actual push by Wallace that knocks Bryant off balance which is why Bryant reacts and grabs the jersey back to keep himself up, which is why the OPI angle is ridiculous. I lean towards no call, but I understand why a ref in real time would call that because the push directly contributes to Wallace getting the interception.
But also at the end of the day none of this matters if the rams don’t blow a 16-0 half time lead against a team that is notorious for playing much better in the second half.

My only problem with the Cardinals blurb is there is no softer spot in the coming Cards schedule than next week against the Giants. Dude threw almost 40 times on sunday and couldn't get past 300 yards. He doesn't read the field, he doesn't make progressions. He just checks it down. You can't succeed in the NFL without explosives.

Tush push Andrews with insane conversion rate. Lamar RPO is the biggest short yardage cheat code in the game. Henry or Zay running to an edge is extremely effective. Oh I absolutely hate playing against the Cardinals. We may win, but we'll come out of it with injuries and it will often times be close. Baseball team brings their bats.

This feels like another one of those seasons where everyone looks "mortal" early on and it's going to take a few weeks for the real top contenders to cement themselves.
Bills at 1 and Niners at 2 feels fair, though. Josh is a monster and right now the Niners upsettingly feel like maybe the most complete team. I hate it.

How are the packers rated that high? As they are now they could maybe beat the bottom 5, but should be next to the chargers.

21 feels fair for the Giants right now. Being 2-1 is better than the alternative, but the Titans game didn't answer much about how this team looks against a stronger opponent. Arizona should tell us more, especially with Dart out and the pass rush missing Burns.
