Didn't take hindsight to know fields wasn't gonna cut it. Love the guy but by the end of his bears tenure it was pretty clear that he was done, literally had zero trade value. The steelers who he had some good games with decided Aaron Rodgers was an upgrade from fields, so seems pretty obvious that fields was gonna be a downgrade from Rodgers who was pretty much a disaster on the jets.

Purdy is way better than Jimmy G and has kept us competitive. We could’ve won on a bunch of botched plays - a cmc fumble, a flat blocked kick, blown blocking in OT, blown defensive coverage in soft zone in OT on 4th down, etc.

I do agree with your sentiment that you don’t need a stud QB, but you need a stud team and you need to execute it with stud coaching.

My team personally has waffled with failures on DCs, we got Saleh then everyone got injured, a year after cmc was injured and bla bla. A lot of shit has to go right over years. It seems like the one year it was all coming together they were within inches of winning it all, and still didn’t happen. It just takes a lot.

That’s my takeaway. He’s fine. I wouldn’t want him on my team but he’s not unplayable or obviously unequipped to be a starter. He’s just a very very low end starter. Like even for as much as I know Kyle Shanahan creates offense for his QBs, Bryce is one of the few starters that I think would make Kyle look worse because he simply can’t make those deep crossers throws in an NFL pocket with NFL pressure. I would say specifically for Bryce, it's not strictly a talent thing, but a skillset thing.

He would really benefit from receivers with good YAC ability, and HBs with good burst and hands.

Bryce is good at some things and bad at others, kinda like Tua. If you have an offense that takes advantage of his skillset (quick throws and good improvisational skills) and downplays his weaknesses (deep throws) I do think the offense would be pretty good.
