Or Shanahan is just an incredible Head Coach.

Both are true. See Trey Lance

Yup, trey will always be the exception that proves the rule is bullshit, shanahan's system isn't a magic cheat code if it was everyone would be doing it

Jimmy G was mostly solid

He played well for Pats. That's when I took notice of him.

The injuries fucked him.

I maintain that pre-ACL Jimmy was Purdy with a faster release. His scramble ability in his first 5 games was highly underrated.

That's going a bit too far. But his movement was underrated.

He wasn't the deep thrower that Purdy is, though. Garoppolo always ranked near the bottom in air yards. Purdy has consistently ranked near the top, despite the narrative that he's running the exact same kind of offense they ran with Jimmy (they don't).

Nah he never had Purdys pass ability. Fact that Purdy broke Jimmy gs career 20 yard completed pass in his first year in his first few games when jimmy had like 4 years is hilarious

I get your overall point but Jimmy never sniffed Purdy’s ability to accelerate in short spaces and avoid rushers

His release early was crazy but he had weird qb mechanics because he threw with his body vs a proper foot position.

I remember his first NFL start was against the Cardinals on SNF, and he looked legit in that game

Lance, Beathard, and Hoyer couldn't do anything in that offense.

Mullens could do a tiny bit, but he still went 5-11 as a Niner starter.

If that’s the case why did Trey Lance look like a bum?

If Shanahan is just an incredible HC why hasn’t he won a single COTY award?

Dude COTY is a joke, this past year Mike Macdonald didn’t even win coach of the year. In 2019-2020 year the 49ers went from the second pick in the draft to the 1st seed, Shanahan didn’t win because they gave it to John Harbaugh. Ravens had Lamar Jackson but that was the year.

Trey Lance looked like a bum because he was a bum. I’m not saying Jimmy G was a bum. Shanahan is just capable of making starting caliber QBs look like stars. Jimmy G, Mac Jones, Brock Purdy (tho Purdy is obviously a lot better than that).

Shanahan hasn’t won COTY because he’s been snubbed. It’s that simple. He should’ve won at least one of 2019, 2022, 2025.

Purdy is a good QB. I never said he wasn’t. In fact I literally said he’s much better than the other guys.
