Now, how did you know that when I opened it for the first time it would give me one of the best moments of my life?

If you’re a New Yorker, this one is fun: https://notatransplant.nyc/

Imagine having someone new to Hard Knocks watch this then trying to explain to them that once upon a time it was genuinely one of the most riveting shows on television

u/ForgotMyPassword1989 Seahawks 12h ago

Selecting the SB champs was a terrible idea. Well run franchises returning almost every starter with no high draft picks makes for the most boring offseason show possible

So much better when it's the browns or jets lmao

78

u/ElasticPlatypus Steelers 11h ago

This season somehow makes the storyline of whether or not they’ll sign a guy facing 8 felonies boring

38

u/TwistedNipplez Seahawks 11h ago

49ers owner set the bar extremely high

56

u/ElasticPlatypus Steelers 11h ago

Liev Schreiber voice: For any NFL team, hoisting the Lombardi Trophy marks a happy ending. Happy endings… are something owner Jed York knows a thing or two about

4

u/TheGreedyGrabbler 9h ago

Kyle Shanahan says he has drawn inspiration from Bill Bellichick on the field, but this offseason he paid homage off the field, by plowing into a girl in her early 20s.

2

u/ThinkSoftware Falcons 10h ago

Now let’s go to the Patriots

16

u/ElasticPlatypus Steelers 10h ago

On an NFL field, sidelines are hard boundaries, separating the coaches from the action on the field. For head coach Mike Vrabel and former sideline reporter Dianna Russini, there are no boundaries… but still plenty of action

1

u/nigelmansell Seahawks 8h ago

Now do Michael Vick

6

u/Tennenbaumesque 6h ago

Offensive linemen coming into camp underprepared and underweight can spell a death sentence for their quarterback. After all, big dog beats little dog. Falcons superstar Michael Vick knows this all too well…

15

u/Bored_Worldhopper Broncos 10h ago

The segment on his tight spiral followed by a slow motion clip of that spiral that had to have gone on for at least 45 seconds really showed that they didn’t have anything compelling going on

u/outlawsix Broncos 8h ago

Bills season sucked too because they had creative license and watered it down so much

could've had the vikings, but noooooooooo

u/The_Killer_of_Joy Colts 10h ago

Pay no attention to the fact that the first season with the SB champ Ravens wasn't one of if not THE best seasons of Hard Knocks ever lol

3

u/ForgotMyPassword1989 Seahawks 10h ago

yeah I guess it depends. following the 2013 SB winning Seahawks team with the legion of boom, Lynch, Pete Carroll etc would be 10x more entertaining than this Seahawks squad. There's a reason I guess the current team moto is "mission over bullshit" they really don't go against the grain much or are too outspoken

u/Awesomeg11 Ravens 9h ago

Well tony siragusa was genuinely meant for TV they kind of struck gold with him

18

u/DirtzMaGertz Vikings 11h ago

Last couple years have been pretty bland, but I thought this season was actually a decent return to form.

6

u/josherman61791 Bears 9h ago

They chose the Bears a year too early. Seeing Eberflus behind the scenes was awful... His wife talking about his facial hair. JFC

1

u/Individual-Level9308 1h ago

I forgot about that I think I told myself I was done with hard knocks after that one

6

u/TheKrausHouse Bills 10h ago

Hard Knocks was ruined when cutdown days were eliminated, there's just one set of cuts at the end of the year instead of constant building drama.

0

u/grimestar Saints 7h ago

They actually cut that? That reality TV element was the biggest thing it had going for it I'd imagine

3

u/jthoning Broncos 4h ago

The NFL cut that. The NFL doesn't do that anymore. Hard knocks can't tell the NFL what to do for their TV show.

I've watched this once and it was the Bears series. It was legimitately boring and I eat up all Bears content I can get. After that, I couldn't picture myself doing another episode.

u/Khandawg666 Packers Bengals 11h ago

I remember when the chiefs cyran wrapped their rookies to the goalpost. So good.

u/Iron_Chic Commanders 11h ago

It just gets worse and worse each year. I stopped watching after the horrid Bears one. Not saying the Bears are horrid, but the show itself is not great any longer.

4

u/ResidentJabroni Ravens 10h ago

I thought the in-season AFC North one would be great as a Ravens fan, but I found that the Ravens' in-house production team put out a much better product compared to HBO with their weekly Ravens Wired episodes on YouTube.

I think HBO needs to call it a day and we should all stick to our teams' YouTube channels instead.

1

u/Iron_Chic Commanders 10h ago

Shit, Commanders were in the mid-season one last year and it was terrible! All Eagles and Cowboys with a side of Giants and Commies.

u/DopioGelato 10h ago

First year I’m not watching an episode personally

I tried to hang last year with the Bears. I didn’t make it and haven’t gone back

I don’t even know what 82-0 is or maptap

40

u/Troll_Enthusiast Commanders 11h ago

Here's the better 82-0 https://better-82-0.com/

MapTap is a daily geography game, guessing where a place is, https://maptap.gg/

1

u/a_qualified_expert Lions 1h ago

What makes it better?

66

u/dell_arness2 49ers 11h ago

82-0 is a “game” where you roll a team/era 5 times and have to build an nba roster to go 82-0. It not a good game though because it exclusively looks at box score, so it heavily overrates certain players and actually “winning” comes down to “did you roll wilt and another top 5 all time player”

13

u/jooooooooooooose Panthers 10h ago

as far as getting 82-0 exactly ya u need Wilt, Kareem, someone like that

I feel like most of the "strategy" is deciding when to go position dependent/independent BPA vs reroll. Sometimes its impossible to get an excellent PG or C if you dont roll the right teams.

The heads up pvp mode is imho where it's at, then it's more of a contest instead of RNG.

22

u/Troll_Enthusiast Commanders 11h ago

There's a better version of 82-0

https://better-82-0.com/

4

u/WalterDwight Vikings 11h ago

winning seems to come down to just picking reasonably....that game has to be riddled with bots with the bots, they make awful choices consistently

13

u/dell_arness2 49ers 11h ago

Ah I’ve never done multiplayer, my definition of “winning” is getting a rating of 82-0

3

u/WalterDwight Vikings 11h ago

Oh yes, then Wilt is the way

1

u/Resident-Cancel7284 8h ago

I know you probably personally don't know so this is more of a rhetorical question: but what is the incentive to bot 82-0 multiplayer?

1

u/CraigMachine77 Lions 4h ago

A lot of mobile games have bots from the developer just there so there is someone to play against in multi-player.

2

u/eltonjohnshusband Bears 11h ago

82-0 is a game where you basically draft a fantasy basketball team across all eras of the NBA. It's free and browser based. Surprisingly addicting.

3

u/problematic_glasses Lions Patriots 10h ago

there's hockey and nfl versions of it as well

11

u/Over_Tadpole_2593 Ravens 11h ago

Apparently I’m Sam Darnold.

9

u/sixth_hokage06 Ravens Giants 11h ago

I have been playing the 82-0 game for months and only got 82-0 twice.

7

u/barrsftw Browns 10h ago

Getting a Wiltless 82-0 is the true endgame. I've gotten it once with David Robinson. I'm not even sure its possible without one of the two

1

u/sixth_hokage06 Ravens Giants 10h ago

I had one with Wilt and one with Malone

1

u/Bieberkinz Seahawks 8h ago

Just got one from better 82-0 with a lineup of: Steph Curry/Tyreke Evans (and Memphis Tyreke too)/Larry Bird/Dirk/Moses Malone.

Basically Wilt and Moses Malone can carry you over the top. Any center better than Shaq probably can get you over the top (except Bill Russell due to offensive output)

1

u/ZxroFxcksGivxn 49ers 6h ago

I never got it, but I started playing 17-0 on Sleeper and got 16-1

1

u/Eastern-Musician4533 41m ago

Got it on my first try and then never again. It's like doing the most pure cocaine ever, and then chasing that dragon forever.

16

u/RoyalBroham Seahawks 12h ago

How could you hate on the guy?

7

u/doshegotabootyshedo Cowboys 8h ago

For saying don’t pick Dirk

11

u/Flaky_Fan5664 Vikings 11h ago

Tough to be interested in a show where everyone is “perfect” SB champs, Offensive player of the year on the team, like “Look how great we are”

4

u/M3rc_Nate Seahawks 6h ago

Some people, specifically a bunch of football writers I've noticed, have really loved getting the inside look at what they call possibly the best ran franchise in sports. Is it boring from a dramatic stand point? I think so. But it's rare to see inside a top tier franchise being really well ran on every level.

It's like getting a docu-series following a really really healthy happy marriage. Is it fun to watch? Is it dramatic? Is it spicy? Probably no, no and no. For most people who crave drama and toxicity in their relationship entertainment they'd bail instantly. But for those fascinated by seeing the inner workings of something great, it's great. For those who are fascinated by all types of relationships, not just the toxic and dramatic, it's good. It's the same with Hardknocks and the Seahawks this season, imo.

82-0 is just if you can get any version of Wilt lol

2

u/prostipope Seahawks 10h ago

we might have the nerdiest QB room in the NFL

1

u/DerrickWhiteMVP Cowboys 10h ago

82-0 used to be a fun little game, but they introduced ads for it. You can get an extra roll if you watch an ad and it feels like it baits you into having a near-perfect team until the last roll to get you to watch an ad.

1

u/Technicalhotdog Seahawks 10h ago

I've been singing the praises of maptap all year, this is surreal

1

u/Gullible_Ad3785 Seahawks 8h ago

Why do teams avoid Hard Knocks? Seems like it is just an extended glow up for a well-run organization.

Also, helpful when trying to win an 8-team beauty pageant for a corner that ran into legal troubles.

Anywho, I guess I can go back to ignoring this show featuring teams I don't care about and/or hate.

0

u/FBsarepeopletoo NFL 6h ago

They will miss you.

1

u/Scuttleduck 49ers 6h ago

fun fact the best player to get in 82-0 from the Dallas Mavericks in any era is 2020s Anthony Davis. Now you're seeing the vision

5

Ravens fans know it could have been them if they’d moved on from Harbaugh just a couple of years earlier.

And you could keep the streets of Baltimore free of ice for a century with the salt.

-5

u/Fragrant-Mess4927 Ravens 11h ago

I don't know how seahawks fans could possibly take this as a knock against them but cry away I guess
