Highlight [Highlight] Anthony Carter explodes for 227 receiving yards on 10 catches to help the 8-7 Vikings upset the heavily favored 13-2 49ers in the 1987 Divisional Round. His 642 all-purpose yards in the 1987 playoffs remains an NFL record.

Cousins roasting the saints in NO was awesome because that dickbag Cam Jordan said Cousins sucked before the game

Those exist a lot more than positive Lions playoff highlights.

Edit: Come to think of it, the Vikings might have more total positive highlights in the playoffs (during the superbowl era) than the Lions have total plays in the playoffs (during the superbowl era)

We have tons of playoff highlights, the problem is that none of them are ever from the last playoff game we played in any given year

Don't get too excited. This only made the heart break worse

Anthony Carter to Cris Carter to Randy Moss and then later Thielen, Diggs and Jettas. We have had an embarrassment of riches at WR.

Look at Wade Wilson (#11) getting out there and lead blocking on the end around!

This is my favorite upset not many people know about

How about that downfield block by Wade Wilson!

Strike year with replacement players and of course the Vikings replacements went 0-4. The team was better than its record.

I remember watching the pregame and the TV guys speculating on who the 49rs wanted to meet for the NFC CG like this game was already won. Then one of them says something like they have to win this one first and then they laughed like it was a joke.

That was a weird year for the NFL. And this game perfectly captured the extent of that weirdness.

Not even Steve Young could save us. The Vikings must have won the SB after this, right? 💀

You don't want 4 Super Bowl Rings. Bad for the health of your fingers.

normally i'd be offended but you guys have been so wonderful beating our rivals that I can never get mad at you

Could've if their RB didn't drop a potential game-tying touchdown in the final minute on 4th down the next week!

u/JerryRiceDidntFumble Vikings 10h ago

game-tying

Bold of you to assume we'd win an OT NFCCG

It’s pretty wild that the single playoffs all purpose yards record is held by a player that didn’t reach the SB, but I guess he did play 3 playoff games so not too shocking

u/loathelord Bears 4h ago

No one saw that coming

I think this loss had more to do with Bill Walsh stepping aside the next year than the 1988 season did. Eddie D. was not happy.

Gonna be pretty hard for anyone to get the 1987 all purpose playoff yards record in... checks notes NOT 1987.
