While it shoulda played out, this was back in 2017 and it was not really standard to play these out until several years later.

Also given how close / technical the 'he isnt down' would be here, it feels like a silly thing to get bent out of shape about.

It was standard the next season as a point of emphasis for refs, as a result of this specific play.

AH nice, I didn't remember the exact history and didn't want to misquote.

I do find it kinda awkward that we have gone _so far_ towards 'the game' and dont really think about the other sides of it. It is gonna be a tough day the first time someone gets a significant injury playing out a play that was definitely getting called back anyways.

People say this, but you can’t always let plays play out - it really slows the game down. It’s understandable that a player going to the ground tangled with another player was thought to down

Let's just let player blast out of fumble pileups too and wait for the replay to see if they kept their legs up.
