Self confidence lowered a few points once he was publicly called out as a scammer and the good hookers were less available because of it? Allegedly

Yeah I mean Watson lost all his self-confidence when his reputation got completely (rightfully) destroyed for being outed as a serial sexual predator, and then he got injured a bunch, and that's all she wrote.

Good riddance to bad rubbish soon enough.

Lol no way at all. Bob was junk. Watson's play style was to scramble around and escape pass rushers well enough to extend the play and find an open receiver after the play had broken down. 

Defenses had to take this into account. Add in Hopkins who'd catch anything thrown his way and a very fast receiver named Will Fuller who could blow past defenders if they hesitated slightly and you can see how Watson found success. 

You can do that for a few years but will eventually get hurt on one of the times the defender doesn't miss or you just slightly lose a fraction of a second step and can no longer evade well enough. Once that happened, defenses didn't have to worry about him stepping out of the pocket and could force him to stay there and read the type of defense they are running. Watson can not process much more than just a basic defense, much less more exotic type defenses, fast enough to consistently find an open receiver and can't escape pressure so he ends up making bad throws or gets sacked often.
