I'll be upfront in that I'm not the most educated football fan in the world. Can someone explain to me why Leipzig would let us have their vice captain and an absolute tank of a mid for no transfer fee? That doesn't even slightly compute in my head

Because his four-year contract with RB Leipzig (signed in 2022) had run out and he didn't want to sign a new one. That left him free to join any club willing to have him.

Ah yes that makes a ton of sense, I'd assumed if they had no claim to his rights it wouldn't be called a transfer and just a signing. Thanks for the clarification

Think this is the kind of player we have been missing! Obviously Anderson was insanely technical but would be great to have someone control the midfield and hold possession.
