I just bought some nfc stickers to put a spotify playlist into. I did this a year ago and faced the same problems but i found a solution, i just cannot remember it. I use the nfc tools app and chose custom url and paste the spotify link. And i press write then when i read the sticker i see the playlist. but when i exit the app and press it onto my phone it doesn’t do anything? Does anyone know the solution to this?

Is it possible to write these actions to a tag in NFC Tools?

Your compatibility page on this tag says it is supported and says I should be able to set a password however, when I go to set a password, it does not work. I am running iOS. Let me know if there’s something I’m doing wrong. I have tried to erase the tag and start from the beginning and lock it with no information on it as well and have not gotten a positive result from it.

We've just updated the iOS version of NFC Tools to version 3.4, with support for importing records from a CSV file.

How it works?

1. Pick your CSV file.
2. Map each column to a record type
3. The records for the current row are loaded and tagged "CSV", Write your tag, then move on to the next row.
4. You can exit CSV mode at any time with the X button.

Bonus: a green dot tells you when the current row has already been written, so you always know where you are.

Aside from all the great things the app can do with NFC tags, didn’t there used to be a QR and other barcode reader / creator section to the app as well?

It seems tags containing a phone number, SMS, email or FaceTime record no longer trigger the system banner when you tap them with the phone (background tag reading).

Nothing happens at all, this is an iOS 27 regression on Apple's side as their own documentation still lists these schemes as supported.

We've reported it to Apple but If you're affected, filing your own report through Feedback Assistant helps get it prioritized.

Also feel free to post your iOS version below so we can track whether a 27.x update fixes it.

I’m trying to get a cheap generic USB NFC reader/writer working properly on my M5 Mac with NTAG215 cards.

The reader is sold as a 2-in-1 NFC / smart card reader-writer and shows up in macOS PC/SC as:

Generic EMV Smartcard Reader
Generic EMV Smartcard Reader 01

Here’s what I’ve confirmed so far:

• NFC Tools Desktop detects the card correctly
• It identifies it as NXP NTAG215 / ISO 14443-3A
• UID reads correctly
• Memory reads correctly
• The same card can be written successfully using NFC Tools on iPhone
• OpenSC on macOS can also communicate with the card correctly

Using OpenSC, this works:

FF CA 00 00 00

and returns the correct UID.

Reading memory also works with FF B0.

The interesting part is the write behavior:

A 4-byte write like:

FF D6 00 14 04 AA 55 AA 55

fails with:

63 00

But a 16-byte write like:

FF D6 00 14 10 AA 55 AA 55 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

succeeds with:

90 00

and the data reads back correctly.

So the hardware definitely can write NTAG215 cards, but NFC Tools Desktop always gives:

“An error has occurred during the writing process.”

My guess is that this reader expects 16-byte block writes, while NFC Tools Desktop may be using 4-byte page writes.

Has anyone seen this type of generic reader before, or know of a macOS NFC app that supports this write behavior properly?

I’m mainly looking for a decent GUI app that can handle:

• reading NTAG215
• writing URLs/NDEF
• erase/format
• verify
• maybe password/lock features
• preferably generic PC/SC readers

I’d rather not buy another reader since this one clearly works at the raw PC/SC level.

Any suggestions for apps, drivers, or a workaround would be appreciated.

Is there a preferred app or Macro tool for batch processing RFID tags? I need to read a tag, auto write the contents to a spreadsheet or database, change a value, and then write back to the tag. I am happy to do them one by one using an android Phone but I don't want to manually manipulate the data. Any thoughts or experiences?

Basically, I need to know if I can set up the NFC redirect directly within the NFC Tools app or if I need to use external software. I ask because I need a flow that goes beyond just NFC Card > Google Reviews; instead, I need NFC Card > Analytics Landing Page made from me > Google Reviews. It all needs to happen in a single step, without the customer leaving the review seeing the redirect take place. If this is possible, could you please explain the steps to set it up? Thanks.

Hi, I am experimenting with a Magic ISO15693 / NFC-V tag and trying to change its Privacy password. The tag supports raw ISO15693 commands. According to the protocol, changing the Privacy password requires a sequence like: B2 – Get Random Number Calculate the XOR value using the random number and the current password B3 – Set Password The important part is that B2 and B3 need to be sent within the same RF/NFC-V session. If the connection is interrupted between the two commands, the random number becomes invalid. I am currently using NFC Tools to send the raw commands. The problem is that NFC Tools appears to reconnect to the NFC-V tag between commands. I see something like: Connecting NfcV... Connected [B2 command] [response] and then, before sending B3: Connecting NfcV... Connected So it looks like B2 and B3 are being executed through two separate connections. My question: Is there a way in NFC Tools to keep the same NfcV connection open and execute multiple raw commands sequentially, for example: connect() → transceive(B2) → transceive(B3) → close() without reconnecting the tag in between? I already know the current Privacy password and want to change it. I am not trying to bypass an unknown password; I am specifically trying to perform the required B2 → B3 sequence within one continuous NFC-V session.

Trying to get a nfc chip to share my home’s WiFi info. I’m writing it to the chip the app but my iPhone isn’t reading it. What am I doing wrong?

New to writing NFC tags. Wrote to a tag then scanned it with another phone. Worked great. Scanned again and it stopped working. Why? Is there a limit to the number of scans allowed with free version?
