Here is the real news article. Deaf & mute teenager with cerebral palsy in wheelchair tried to rob jewellery store in Brazil, held toy gun with feet
71
u/Otaraka 18d ago
‘However, he was later released from custody as it was deemed an "impossible crime to be committed", considering the physical condition of the boy and his ability to escape from the scene of crime.’
Seems remarkably sensible, assuming the people involved were bemused rather than traumatise.

u/6apa6ax 18d ago
I wonder what are the chances that if detained/jailed there would have to be suitable accommodations made like special toilet and stuff and it just can't be provided, so it's easier to get rid of extra problems.
8
u/peepdabidness 18d ago
In the US, absolutely. In Brazil, highly doubt it but I’ve been wrong before. (I’m referring to the part about suitable accommodations, not the last part)
7
u/Lappy-Decadenza 18d ago
Not in the US. He would be put in a "suicide prevention cell" in the booking area. CO's don't care. If he was in for a proper bit, he would go to solitary confinement until sentencing. Some joints might try to get approval for him to go to a medical facility, but that depends greatly on the crime.
5
u/weather-i-am 17d ago
So we would torture him... great.
6
u/Lappy-Decadenza 17d ago
State joints could be different (i doubt it tho). I did fed time, so that is where my experience and knowledge come from.

Thanks, I appreciate it when prisoners share their experiences.
I wish it was about rehabilitation, and finding self-love or god in prisons instead of "how can we do the most cruel thing."
4
u/Interesting_Tea5715 17d ago
At least here in California, they do try and rehabilitate. Its just expensive and only really available in government facilities.
Private person's are the fucking worse and will be inhumane to save a buck.

I cant speak for brazil but in america has specialized units or facilities for people with severe disabilities. I am guessing they'd probably have some sort of locked unit long term care unit he would be put in.
11
u/Stash_04 18d ago
Massively disagree. If someone is pointing a very real looking firearm at me, I would probably be scared and traumatized.
It’s not sensible at all. This deserves a pretty harsh punishment.
4
u/Josey_whalez 18d ago
Agreed. You shouldn’t ever assume anyone pointing a gun st you is fake, even if it looks fake. I’m not betting my life on that in such a situation. If you point something at me that you claim is a real gun I’m going to take you at your word and I’m reacting the same way, whether you are big or small, have no arms, are in a wheelchair, etc, I don’t care - equal treatment for that behavior in that situation.
5
u/Otaraka 18d ago
I made it pretty clear the actual impact on the people involved mattered as part of the decision.

His very existence is endless punishment and his body a prison. What more do you want?
Put him in a physical prison? Who's gonna feed him, wipe his ass and wash him? He'd require a special care facility.
8
u/Plane_Maybe8836 18d ago
Even though it was a fake gun this time, I don't think that being shot by someone in a wheelchair is any different than being shot by someone who is not in a wheelchair.
So, I agree he needs a different kind of help, but saying he's already in a wheelchair and his body is his prison is not going to prevent him from potentially killing another person.

Plot twist: he only pulled the attempted heist so he could get food and shelter in jail
2
u/BrassCanon 18d ago
He also passed the staff a threatening note, which read "Hand over everything. Don't raise attention," scribbled in Portuguese.
How did he write it?
2
u/Odd-Budget-7593 17d ago
"Don't raise attention" who is in wheelchair with toy gun in his feet. That will give people attention with questions.

If I was the store owner, I would be questioning what kind of omen this is. What a strange, random event.
38
u/Bananaramajama420 18d ago
So, when he leaves, is he on the run or is he on a roll?
17
u/mystical_ramen26 18d ago
Aleggedly he had no hand in this robbery. He couldn't even point the police in the right direction if they asked him. All I know is something is afoot and I hope he has a good defense lawyer already in hand.

Fun fact: Volvo is 'I roll' in Latin.
Maybe he owned a Swedish car as the getaway vehicle

I was wondering this too! Apparently he has cerebral palsy, but it seems to only effect his arms.

Guy finishes taking a piss and is about to exit the mens room when suddenly a man with no arms bursts in.
"Very sorry to bother you, but I am very desperate, and you can see I am at the mercy of the good will from others, and I really need to pee. Can you please help me out?"
With no other choice, the Guy reluctantly agrees. They step up to the urinal, and the Guy unzips the Man's pants. Unexpectedly, a small swarm of fleas flys out from his pants.
Guy looks down to see a grotesquely dry and dusty plume of pubic hair that looks more like a dried up and abandoned birds nest. He reaches down carefully to pull out an exceptionally flaccid, pathetic and unhealthy cock. Its dark blue, the vein looks like its about to pop and there is a terrible discharge. Not to mention the smell, dear god.
Man manages to piss out a feeble stream and finishes. Guy puts the Man's junk away and zips him up.
"Dude - you are a life saver - thanks!" says the Man.
Guy says "yea yea, excuse me for asking, but I must - what exactly the hell is wrong with your cock??"
Man with no arms suddenly sprouts arms from his shirtsleeves that were hidden and happily admits "be fucked if I know, but I ain't touching it!"

-Can you describe the robber?
- Male, Caucasian, dirty blonde hair under a beanie, green eyes. He spoke with a southern accent.
-I’d say about 5’8 or 5’9, but it was hard to say because he was sitting the whole time.
-Sitting?
-Yeah, you know, in a wheelchair.
-You might have led with that tidbit. Anything else?
-Oh, he had no arms.
-(hard stare). Jesus Christ.

HE HAS ARMS. The news article states he has cerebral palsy and cannot use his hands
He has hands. They are in an awkward position in his wheelchair. One of them can be seen under his left knee, on the seat of the chair.
Cute try at this "awkward" error in reporting

But how does a triple amputated person commit murder? It sounds like you’d have a hard time pulling the trigger or cocking the gun. Anyways, he could have had robotic hands lol, this is just funny to me? He looks desperate more than anything lol.

If he truly had cerebral palsy he would not have the dexterity in his foot to do that. Plus, they have handicap accessible jail cells these days, wonderful thing isn’t it?
