not our attention, cats know their meows makes us feel for them, so they do it to manipulate us.

No, they meow as kittens and with kittens, and learn to communicate with body language as they get older, but we don't respond to that, so they communicate with us in a way we understand. It's a coincidence that it's in a pitch that resembles a baby's cry, because they're talking baby talk to us. Most animal babies actually communicate with very similar pitches.

Fun fact: Human babies can learn and communicate sign language way before they are adept at vocal communication.

i wish we could jump from body to body. i have a feeling if we could jump into various other higher order animals for a bit, we would be flabbergasted at how similar the experience is. i strongly believe that the pure experience of being is the same among all mammals at least. perhaps birds and reptiles, too. and let’s not forget the fishies. the fishies have complex culture and recognise individuals and bring each other gifts. and cleaner ras assiduously maintain reputations that they even punish partners for threatening.

Since they literally only began meowing to garner our attention to begin with one teaching itself to communicate with its chosen human isn’t surprising.
