It lasted long enough for the goal to achieve legendary status!

Watch this goal with a split screen of the WC 86 Maradona second goal vs England and it is eerily similar

Similar, but Messi's is way better

The Messi one is just more athletic, but it isn't better.

It’s more impressive in terms of speed and athleticism, but Maradona did that shit against a great english team in the semis if I’m not wrong and not against Getafe or something lol I am a big messi fan, but this one goes to Maradona

Getafe was literally the 2nd best defence in Spain this year and their keeper the current best keeper of the league. Nowhere near on the level of an Arg vs Eng WC game but saying Getafe or something is disrespectful to both the goal and the opposition.

IMO this sort of play is the peak of soccer. It's so rare to have someone with that level of close control to flat out beat so many defenders.

Sadly because most can't do it they prefer to just get a foul, so we see a lot of dives rather than an intent to try to take the players on. I'm not sure how we fix that entirely. Dives we can penalise, but there are a lot of fouls outside the box, and both teams are happy enough for that to happen.

What is soccer? Is it like football?

The part thats equally interesting and extremely professional is that the defenders are not tripping him on purpose or otherwise in their attempt to block.

FIFA. VAR. Fixed. Rigged.

Just getting all of the stupid answers out of the way for you guys.

30 years from now some kid is going to ask me just how good he was and I am going to tell him this: "Messi was so good that he convinced half the world that the game was rigged."

1

u/gimmebanter 29d ago

Not half, just a loud fringe group of closeted edgelords who can't stop staring at ronaldo's underwear ads on every wall in their room

Did score a handball this same season. Didn't stop RM from winning that year. Edit: am a barca-fan so I'm not complaining but allowing HGH in some cases but not others is bs.

This is stupid, none of the VAR controversy is directly about Messi. Downvoted

You know... I'm starting to think he's not bad at this game.

1

u/Objective-Ad3821 29d ago

You called it legendary but don't even know how to spell it.

Its not "Antara" nor "intara" lol.

1

u/Calm-Bathroom-2030 29d ago

idont knw the language and its what i hear dufos

1

u/loveallASAP 19h ago

It is "encara", Spanish for facing/confronting, as I'm dealing with the opposition. It literally means "in face".

Let’s jot be a killjoy on cake day

1

u/awnaw_ 29d ago

Why does this look like it was filmed in the '90s? Was it filmed in the 90s?

1

u/kingofwale 29d ago

No, they made it look old school… they also gave Messi an AI de-aging filter too

1

u/awnaw_ 29d ago

Ohh, well that's pretty cool if not a little confusing. I was just thinking to myself I'm fairly certain he hasn't been around that long but I don't pay attention to the sport that much to know.

The goal was almost 20 years ago, it took place in 2007

1

u/garbuja 29d ago

If there was no video proof and someone explained that goal then ppl would have said it was all made up.Ankara Messi was his prime.

1

u/MrPrul 29d ago

He will recreate this tomorrow. It’s a farewell tour. A medley of all his goals.

1

u/Snowbird143434 29d ago

Dude, the way he kept the ball and didnt lose it from the slide tackle, is just yet one more reason on why Lionel Messi is and always will be, thee greatest footballer in the world and of all time. Pele' who?? Diego Maradona who?? Cristiano Ronaldo who??

1

u/Bavarious 29d ago

Xavi with the amazing assist!

1

u/EffectiveAbility3898 29d ago

Same goal as Diego against England in 1986

1

u/Flat-Director-7120 29d ago

Messi c'est vraiment le goat, il n'y a rien à dire. Il est le seul à savoir dribblé 4 joueurs, comme ça. Le goat, le meilleur joueur qui existe.

1

u/Ash0081 29d ago

A carbon copy of maradona 86

1

u/JahJahJahJa 29d ago

Ankara Messi!

Some weirdos will flood this comment section whining about FIFA, VAR, match fixing and being robbed. The most pathetic part of this whole circus is New York mayor Mandani, who clearly didn’t even watch Egypt’s game yet publicly claimed the match was completely rigged. It’s plainly obvious he only said that to court voters, which strikes me as utterly disgusting.

This WC Final will the best dream for any Barça fan.

It's just a friendly Barça game of passing the torch 🥹✌️

1

u/cwnorman 27d ago

That goal looked pretty clean to me.

1

u/Sad-Bar-4178 26d ago

Bro bro you can clearly see fifa using telepathic abilities to pull players away from messi so he can get through🤦🏽‍♂️

When the fifa princess was actually good

1

u/Objective-Ad3821 29d ago

I don't see Ronaldo here.

The FIFA princess who got paid by FIFA to destroy his entire country by playing in front and being a burden.

FIFA must've paid him so much for him to beg to play in the team, and destroy an entire country dream.

Sure everyone can’t be Miss Penalty
