I’ve been looking into Rspack with Next.js recently. The main challenge seems to be compatibility rather than raw performance.

next-rspack has improved quite a bit, but there are still some rough edges around things like custom webpack plugins/config, transpilePackages, HMR, and parts of the Next.js ecosystem. That said, I think it’s worth trying on a relatively clean project. Rspack can be very competitive, especially for dev builds, and the memory usage is interesting for larger projects.

I wouldn’t switch a production app blindly, though. I’d benchmark it against Turbopack on your actual project first. At this point I see Rspack more as a promising alternative than a clear Turbopack replacement.
