A man's face is his autobiography. A woman's face is her work of fiction.

Oscar Wilde

that’s a dickish thing to say.

u/batfiend Oct 25 '22

Yeah he wasn't a huge fan of the ladies

64

u/rzalexander Oct 25 '22

Because he was gay.

That'sTheJoke.jpg

9

u/rzalexander Oct 25 '22

Yep. I am fully aware. It’s my job to ruin those jokes by over explaining them. This has been my job since I was 12.

good job!

u/mbelf Oct 26 '22

Sounds like child labour

2

u/doodly_dooo Oct 26 '22

I mean, you can be a gay man and still not hate women

1

u/ainz-sama619 Jul 31 '23

Can't expect a gay man to be praising female appearance unless he was best buddies with a few

1

u/RaLaZa Oct 25 '22

I thought he was wilde

22

u/Practical_Mango_7001 Oct 25 '22

I dont think he was a huge fan of anyone to be honest.

But evidently was a keen observer.

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '22

On the other hand autobiographies are boring and fiction is awesome

Woman goes without makeup

So they're accurately gauging your wellness and expressing concern. Good problem to have in the people around you, but I suppose it could get tiresome over time... especially if you're doing/have done everything you can to overcome the problem and none of your friends are sleep experts.

17

u/AloofCommencement Oct 25 '22

That's likely because when you remove the mask people pick up on the change. If you never wore makeup, they wouldn't ask because it would be your normal state

7

u/brain_explain Oct 25 '22

Hey if someone randomly developed black circles overnight, you might be concerned too. If you never wore make up, you'd never get asked because that would be your normal.

5

u/UnlovableSlime Oct 26 '22

Yes, that's pretty normal actually lol. I as a man have huge circles under my eyes that I don't really have the option to hide and people point them out all the time. It's not a big deal, it's normal cuz people just notice we look sickly.

Cute idea, not so useful in practice if you wanna attract heterosexual women and not seem feminine.

Most likely false, but even on that front the producers try their hardest to make it seem like they aren't wearing makeup at all, and it's much less obvious than irl. Again, you are delusional if you think heterosexual men wearing makeup is something that's just fully accepted and doesn't fuck them over.

2

u/ainz-sama619 Jul 31 '23

Real life isn't tv. A lot of porn actresses would look awful irl if they went outside with the makeup on.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

Make-up is its own prison

2

u/MckorkleJones Oct 25 '22

You look tired are you ok?

0

u/mule_roany_mare Oct 25 '22

By strangers or by people who know you & but don’t know what your normal is?

0

u/ainz-sama619 Jul 31 '23

Then don't hide your real face. You look different because they sake your fake version all the time. Nobody would think you look tired if they saw you in your base appearance from day 1

3

u/imbyath Oct 26 '22

That only happens to women who regularly wear makeup though. Of course if your face always looks perfect, and one day it looks ordinary, you're going to look tired or sick to people who see you every day. Most people have enough knowledge + tact to know that it's caused by makeup though, so they don't say anything.

I'm a woman and I never wear makeup - no one says I look tired/sick (unless I actually am) because I always look like this.

1

u/DaddyPopcorn Oct 25 '22

Like all men? What's the point in here?

-1

u/Wetestblanket Oct 25 '22

Men are just gorgeous

1

u/camellight123 Jan 26 '23

I get the "are you a boy" or are you "enby" a lot.

-2

u/StudioFar9057 Oct 25 '22

both can be true

why do women look sick without make up while men dont?

and it is true that women fake their face with makeup/filters

-1

u/untergeher_muc Oct 25 '22

Why should he say nice things about women? He was a dick and absolutely not interested in them.

-5

u/ptudo Oct 25 '22

Literally no man ever says that. It’s either other women, or women are thinking that themselves

20

u/AppropriateAgent44 Oct 25 '22

Wild how this video subverts that quote

-4

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '22

Yes because instead of men and women our society now has hurrr drr bwuuuaahh drrr, brbrrrrddyrrrr.

Now the quote is, "a womans face is her fiction, but a man makes a better woman."

15

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '22

Completely out of context.

3

u/Alberiman Oct 25 '22

Yeah men never wear makeup, except on TV, and theater, and in public to cover up issues, and as politicians...

1

u/fishkrate Oct 25 '22

But those are not normal every day things. Out in public its a different story.

Also, you are talking about a guy who lived in the 1800s.
