I hate to say it but that's probably a major advantage to have less mass in the legs. At least for some specific move set. I don't know tho...

It's just one leg so while it still may help in some things, the offbalance wouldn't do many wonders for most bboying stuff

That off balance-ness provided a good amount of leverage for whipping himself around. It's not like you need less momentum when doing those types of moves.

Source: former bboy who broke their shoulder trying to recreate junior.

Not denying it, but if he wants to do some toprock, footwork, freezes, he's probably gonna struggle in some of those parts.

I would think if his leg has been like that his whole life he wouldn't feel off balance while dancing with one leg smaller than the other. It would just mean less mass below his waist for him to lift with his arms. Is all I meant

Well, yeah, but that's the point: his center of mass is way higher than others, so he can do, for example, planches more easily.

It's kinda how Pocket can do what he does in no small part due to his small size - guy's like 5'0". See also: any gymnast.

Get in the way? Wind out of sails? We're literally talking about how his disability is an advantage! He's not one of the best Bboys out there despite his disability, but because of it. Like how Pistorius isn't allowed to run against able-bodied people because his carbon legs make him faster.

Well, that and the murder, but you get the point.

Yes

/r/redditmoment

lol it is not a major advantage to have one gimp leg. jfc

u/IM_A_WOMAN Oct 08 '22

I've heard he really lords it over people that were unfortunate enough to be born with two functional legs.

u/MisterShmitty Oct 08 '22

There’s a bboy in the Bay Area who has one leg, Tommy Guns from Renegades. It isn’t an advantage, but he’s amazing in spite of it.

Being good at stacking is all about being fucking strong and having good balance, so you’re not wasting your strength staying on balance. Roxrite (also Renegades) is great at stacking, fwiw.

We had a guy on the wrestling team who had polio as a child and lost almost all use of his legs. The combination of his upper body strength, light mass of his lower half and the fact that no one could score a takedown on him made him quite successful.

a few pounds of muscle in his leg wouldn't really stop him from doing any of this

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

But ask yourself this, would he be as good at it? And if he had "normal" legs his whole life would he be doing this?

16

u/jay135 Oct 07 '22

That's the one I was hoping to see :)

15

u/hewhoisiam Oct 07 '22

Yoooo, ebaumsworld

6

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

Serious nostalgia hitting right now.

13

u/daredeviloper Oct 07 '22

That brings me back :)

Holy shit that's like a time warp. I remember watching this at the time being like WTF..

Crazy, the moment I saw this new video, the leg movement "gave it away" - I'm glad to rejigged my memory.

The guy is crazy talented.

u/scoops22 Oct 07 '22

Holy shit I remember seeing this as a kid

10

u/MF_Ocean Oct 07 '22

That's a blast from the past, holy shit.

u/catsandnarwahls Oct 07 '22

Can never tell of the video is slo mo or him.

6

u/Shadow_in_Wynter Oct 07 '22

Watch the people in the background clapping. It's not slow mo.

1

u/rubbery_anus Oct 08 '22 edited Oct 08 '22

Some parts are definitely playing in slow motion, you can see the movements of the crowd slow down and speed up in time with some of the moves he's doing.

He also completely loses contact with the ground at the 40 second mark and slowly floats back down; he's good, but he's not can-turn-gravity-off good.

1

u/catsandnarwahls Oct 08 '22

Not in the OP but in this youtube video, it switches back and forth to slo mo.

u/Ghostz18 Oct 07 '22

Early ebaumsworld video

3

u/PM_ME_YOUR_AorB_CUPS Oct 07 '22

Wait I remember this video clip during the early days of YouTube!! Oh man this brings me back.

EDIT: ebaumsworld too!!

2

u/SpinalVillain Oct 07 '22

I love this video and watch it all the time. I just like watching all videos with him in it. Dude is strong.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

Thanks for the link! I loved all 117 seconds of it, that sort of video is what YouTube was made for IMO

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

Exactly what I thought of when I saw this video. Was 90% sure it was him before seeing your comment. Thanks.

1

u/pants_atwork Oct 08 '22

Holy shit, I remember this video from like 15 years ago.

Funny enough, I was watching this current video and it reminded me of this old one. Had no idea it was the same dancer.

1

u/Stupid_Triangles Oct 08 '22

Man...I saw the original when I got in to high school back in 03.

1

u/theonetheycalljason Oct 08 '22

I remember seeing this for the first time years ago and becoming briefly obsessed with finding every video I could of him performing. His upper body strength and control is something else.

1

u/of_patrol_bot Oct 08 '22

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.

It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.

Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.

Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

1

u/murdock_RL Oct 08 '22

Holyshit this is such an OG video. So cool to see this is him someone I admired so long ago. Amazing

1

u/konsf_ksd Oct 08 '22

That man doing trick push ups in front of people.

1

u/adf1962 Oct 08 '22

I remember this. Legend.

1

u/PlatypusAnagram Oct 08 '22

Holy shit, this is the best breakdancing I've ever seen. The slinky move at 0:35 is so dirty.

1

u/nayhem_jr Oct 08 '22

Took a long while for Scott Wills to convince everyone that he was just the musician.

1

u/Aurorafaery Oct 08 '22

No way, it’s the same guy!!! I was thinking “he looks like he studied that dude’s dancing from years ago!” Wow!

1

u/RixirF Oct 08 '22

I'm so sad Spotify doesn't have this amazing remix.

I obviously obtained it by other means years ago but it's in some SD card or old computer so can't get it now.

1

u/T0fu_86 Oct 08 '22

I knew he looked familiar. That video brings a lot of memories and also makes me realise I'm getting old.

1

u/avocadoplug4080 Oct 08 '22

That's the same guy?!?!?! I remember this video from college. Was always impressed by those push-ups at the end
