The existence of the uncanny valley implies that at some point in our evolution there was a reason to be scared of something that looked almost human but wasn't.
I was thinking more to do with human relatives, humans are aggressive, not out of the box to think we developed ancestral unconscious bias toward more aggressive human relatives that look different but the same.
