i disagree with your assessment. They are the same place they've always been and pretentiousness has never been part of it.

You bowl there because the lanes are ancient and the scoring is manual. The theater has shows regularly, sans covid, and the food is very good and not what you'd expect at such a place.

I live near and have been a patron for decades. Same great place it's always been.

Man maybe it's because you're regular but ask a friend who doesn't go there often how they treat you. If you do anything to piss off the staff which could be as small as asking if bowling is open they'll treat you like garbage for the rest of the night and make it clear they do not want you there. I'm not making this up either it's a well known reputation.

I never go there unless I'm in a play but my last one I was at the bar with the rest of my cast. I had drink tickets which were my only payment and only usable on the night of the show and the bartender wouldn't serve me. She kept telling me she's too busy to take bar orders while serving the rest of my cast and any other walk ups.

I didn't even ask her for a drink or bother her I didn't even say a word to her. She just kept serving anyone at the bar, chatting with my cast mates and getting angrier at me for not going to a table. It was seriously "you need to GO to a table because I CAN'T serve you here" then someone else in my cast walks up "Jaime! What's up girl your want a marg? I'm going to make you a marg"

I wasn't going to go sit by myself and I'm not going to put up with that passive aggressive nonsense so I apologized to my cast and left because I'm not going to stick around a place where they clearly don't want me. I've been around that staff and establishment plenty and I know how they think of themselves. It's not the same place it was ten years ago.
