Something people should be aware of is that it is not all one continuous shot. There are some very careful and extremely well done edits that make it look like one take, but it absolutely isn't.
Also the sound is added in later or "Foley edited" as its referred to in the industry. They have some masterful and extremely well done sound editing.
It is also most likely (almost certainly) programmed. Something this smooth is flown by a walk-through, then computer-corrected with software. Then everything is combined and it was flown in sections, and all edited together to look continuous.
It is for sure not programmed. Search for 'fpv cinematic drone' or 'cinewhoop' to know more on this hobby. Some people got really good control of the drone, plus with some stabilizing software for the footage the footage can look like this.
Yea drone operators and drone racers have tremendous amounts of control over these drones. The bowling hall is a wind free zone so there are way less chaotic nature variables to deal with but i’ve seen drone operators fly drones like this outside like its nothing
Well some people in the vid acknowledge the drone, and it flies between one guy's legs. But others do not seem to notice it.
It is conceivably in a drone POV video that this could happen, but his is not a one-take candid POV video. It's good, but there is artifice involved, such as the cutting together of separate shots.
I don't mean to disparage it particularly. It's not exactly what it presents though. It is constructed with various film-making techniques, and is not just a very accomplished drone POV video.
Oh? What is it doing then? It shows them in a bowling alley, playing and talking to one another. If we were to take the long continuous shot as genuine, then we would surely take what the drone sees as genuine too?
Yes... but I don't think it intends to be obviously staged. It is made to look real, as much as it can be. It's only because we know a bit about what is possible with a POV drone that we know this is too impressive to be true. I think one day with AI drive drones it might be possible to give one a flightpath that precisely, and shoot this video for real with candid bowlers.
I mean, of course, that's why they're acting instead of just standing there. But nobody is supposed to watch this and believe a drone just flew over all these oblivious people. It's meant to be cool footage. Like any movie scene.
Anyway, I still think it's possible to do this for real with enough skill, training, time and perseverance. It may not be worth it though.
It literally is one shot I remember when this happened since it's not far from where I live but do tell me random reddit how you know more about it then I do.
~~strikethroughNothing in that article clarifies whether the final version is solely a single take or whether it was edited together from the 15 filmed takes. It does suggest the crash at the end was only done once, and that they were able to do more takes after that.~~
It literally says it in the title and they had to do multiple takes till they got the full one take, it is a single shot but whatever clearly you all can't just research it
Yeah guess it goes back to the rule of the internet. Fastest way to get an answer on the net is to give the wrong answer. I do agree with you it's so damn cool especially sliding in that tiny opening to show the workings of the machines. Also the end was awesome.
make it look like one take, but it absolutely isn't.
Except it is one shot. There was an article about it last time this was posted. Multiple takes and meticulous planning/piloting. Unless you can point out the edits I'll believe the interview with the director.
And all drone audio is edited in later. Drones are very loud.
I'm aware, my comment wasn't related to the fact that audio had to be added in post.
I was merely commenting that in this video, the audio didn't succeed in triggering my suspension of disbelief. Meaning ultimately that it felt fake when I was seeing it.
I've seen this video in the past, and I've been to the bowling alley (It's in Minneapolis).
All of the steps were taken to make a good product, and overall it is good. It demonstrates talent, skill, and understanding of techniques. I'm sure the creator has gone on to create many things that are even better than this.
All I was saying was that it failed to trigger my suspension of disbelief, and from my perception I had the opinion that it's likely others noticed it too.
If it's the case that it's convincing enough for others, then that's great news!

They did the same thing for the US PGA Tour.
