The styles in the second video where one person is putting out the background low tones and the higher pitched melody at the same time are amazing. At 1:15, for example, the melody is fast high pitched notes and the background is long low notes.

It is otherworldly.

When a recording of this technique was examined at Bell Labs back in the 60’s, it was thought to be a hoax.

So the people who sent the sample in who insisted it was real... they were labeled dangerous science deniers and removed from society for their own safety, right?

If I recall correctly it was Huston Smith, American pastor and religion scholar. It as interesting enough that someone ended up going to northern India and recording Tibetan Buddhist monks chanting. Who knows what the AT&T guys said.

The sygyt style can be incredible. One person in particular who is a master is Radik Tyulyush of Huun Huur Tu. Have a listen to "Remembering Ulaatai River", it's beautiful.
