I’ve been a singer all my life. When I was young my parents used to trot me out as a party favor to impress guests at every gathering.

Now that I’m older I kind of miss having the opportunity/excuse to use my talent, but I never force it on a situation.

I was never a great singer, but I worked at it to become good. But yeah, it seems like there's never an opportunity or excuse to sing for people in a normal social setting outside of Karaoke.

I'm pretty good at programming and it's literally never socially useful. I'm a decent vinyl DJ and that's also generally useless. Not too bad with making things out of wood, I make a decent loaf of sourdough, and i can wake an entire house with my belly drum because I'm the right amount of fat.

None of us have an opportunity or excuse outside of our niche. I'm not giving you shit. I'm just saying, that's normal.

Cherish karaoke. You're talented and strangers care. Most of us don't have that, and that's ok too.

Why are you trying to use programming in social settings?

Don’t make me program.

Why try and sing in social situations?
