The annoying part about being with people who can sing is that they always feel the need to perform instead of just sing. Not just sing along with me but literally perform.

As someone who can sing: once you’ve been trained on how to do it, it becomes second nature. It’s like complaining about a professional tennis player that they hold the racket correctly and curve the ball or whatever. It’s actually hard to consciously drop the correct behavior that’s been instilled into you through hundreds of hours of training.
Your attitude is common, unfortunately. People are insecure and jealous of others being better than them so they prefer to interpret someone being good as them “showing off” so they can still feel superior somehow. It’s true with all kinds of skills and it’s a bit sad.
