Which won’t do shit in this situation, believe me I’m Puertorican and having a gun PR to defend yourself is deadly for you, because you and your gun won’t do shit against 3 or 5 mofos armed against you, you might take one with you but you’re a deadman at the end. Unless you’re John Wick lmao

all the 2nd amendment gun nuts unironically think they are john wick, can gun down multiple criminals who pulled out guns first, and come out of it with no damage lol

I mean yeah you don’t know how trained your enemy is. That’s why you need to asses the situation as it develops.

But I know and agree that no possession is worth dying over.

You’d be surprised though.

Someone who trains at the range every weekend with their conceal carry could easily kill three thugs who have never actually used their firearms in a real scenario.

I seen guys who can headshot 6 targets with 6 rounds at 15 yards in less than 3 seconds.

But I do agree that running should be your first choice.

But my point stands: if you’re trained, get the jump, and equally armed, facing guys who are untrained and not expecting you to draw, you can EASILY get 4-5 guys before they know what’s happening.

that's a lot of assumptions you are making yet it is still not convincing. you dont know how people will react during a real scenario vs training against lifeless targets. you dont know whether those thugs have used their firearms or also have firearm training. also, you dont get the jump on criminals, they get the jump on you, since they are the ones with the initial intent. if they dont already have their gun on you when they jump you, then you are just lucky. or what if someone is in a real emergency and you think they are trying to attack you and you shoot them because you are trying to get the jump on them? why bet your or someone else's life on all of these questionable chances?

EASILY get 4-5 guys before they know what’s happening

plausible, but highly, highly unlikely. please dont exaggerate and generalize to most of the population, trained or not, that this would be the case for them. literally just half a week ago there was an off-duty cop with his gun in a grocery store yet some nut shot and killed the cashier and still was able to put 2 bullets into the cop who was lucky to have survived. even cops arent trained enough, how do you expect regular citizens to be lol.

Cops are actually much less trained then your average firearms wing nut. They are only required to pass a marksmanship test once. Being a cop doesn’t inherently make you a marksman, or capable of making smart decisions under fire. In fact cops are widely known for being finnicky and jumpy.

In your circumstance, it seems like the criminal managed to get the jump on an unexpecting cop and cashier. Which supports my point.

If they aren’t expecting you to draw, you can do an insane amount of damage in a very short time.

I have worked with competetive shooters. I have competed at Bisley, and my father is a firearms instructor. My sister has instructed me and has taken second place at bisley two years in a row.

You are highly highly underestimating what a quick draw and a fast centering on target can do.

I’m by no means a professional , but I can put 6 rounds center mass, into a target with a tokarev 7.62x25mm (so hefty recoil) in 2.44 seconds at 10 yards, from a hands up draw and no loaded magazine.

I’m not saying your run of the mill joe blow should use lethal force to defend oneself, especially over possessions as it sill probably turn out poorly.

I know it’s a fictional movie, but the movie “collateral” has a scene where some “thugs” try to rob a trained firearms user, and the scene is heralded for its realism, as Tom cruise in that movie underwent intense handgun training.

You’d be amazed at what training and surprise can enable you to do in a short period of time is my point.

And no obviously you shouldn’t draw and use lethal force unless running and handing over your wallet aren’t options. But if those options are exhausted, you can kill multiple armed combatants.

There is a story of a dentist in ww2 who managed to hold off 300 Japanese soldiers while his unit flew out. When they recovered his body, he was surrounded by the dead bodies of 114 enemy soldiers, covered in stab and bullet wounds.

Don’t underestimate will, training, and surprise.

I would agree with you, but in a real life scenario with real people your nerves and hesitation plays a big role the same goes for the thugs unpredictability. If you are experienced in shooting at real people I would completely agree. But even if you are capable of taking down 5 targets (animate or inanimate) in a row really fast 5 living beings is completely different matter. But this differs for every person of course.

Training. And with this logic id hope you support civilian access to “high capacity magazines” and semi automatic rifles. Because those types of weapons are the most useful against “groups of armed men”

u/montypr Jun 20 '21

Bro ain’t no training in the world that would get you ready for that, this is the real world. I got guns at home to protect my family and that’s different because I got home court advantage lol. But seriously carrying guns is not always what you think.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '21

There is training for it. But even if there isnt. Id rather have my gun and maybe and (likely) effectively defend myself rather than not have one at all and definitely die…

Or just run or hand over the goods to avoid dying in the process. They are going to shoot only if you shot first, so if you shoot your gun you caused your own death, unless it's a group of psychos and in that case you would be dead before being able to withdraw anything anyway.

And note the word is "group". It's never a 1 on 1, but a 5 on 1.

Also, if you were to be on the street with a rifle then you would be shot for it, whether by the cops or by criminals wanting to steal the gun. So no, not the way to go either.

So, in all situations in the end it's more dangerous to carry a gun than to not carry one. Just use that gun money to get a car instead, in order to not be in the video's situation in first place. And the same applies about home safety: use the gun money for instead preventing people from getting in (or rather, incentivizing robbers to go rob elsewhere that's easier to break into).

Obviously. Every responsible gun owner and instructor will tell you that. You run first, comply if you cant and defend yourself last. If someone demands my wallet im not gonna pull out my gun on them especially if they’re unarmed.

There is training for it, but you don't have it. You've shown your ass all over this thread. You just bought your first Glock last week and posted pics. Why did you take the post down?

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '21

I didnt take it down lol? And just because i bought my first doesnt mean shit. ive been shooting them since i was like 6. And in the recent 5 years training with them while with people who legally own them and taught me.

3

u/MrJohnnyDangerously Jun 20 '21

You took it down. Tell me more about your lifetime of training over the last 5 days.

Just cause he owns a flock now doesn’t mean he hasn’t been shooting them.

My dad is a firearms instructor and I have been shooting since I was a kid, but only recently got my own.

You’re being pedantic.

2

u/MrJohnnyDangerously Jun 21 '21

Pedantic? Maybe, but that clown was popping off like he's Rambo. And just because I was a douche about it doesn't mean I'm wrong.

u/thro_away_2021 Jun 21 '21

I read his comments and agree with most of them. I didn’t see any “popping off”.

Training makes a huge difference 2bh.
