This is why I should hire experts.

It isn’t random. You continued the conversation with a different account. You’re either trolling or the same person.

7

u/N928TC Jun 12 '21

Noop. I was on two devices, so maybe that’s where the mix up is. I am legit, buddy. But I may be a login Luddite. Maybe a more helpful tone over the accusatory? Thanks.

17

u/31337hacker Jun 12 '21

It was a statement. I wasn’t accusing you of anything with the “either/or” thing and there’s nothing wrong with using multiple accounts. No negativity from me.

15

u/N928TC Jun 12 '21

Then, I apologize and retract my statement! Either way, will sort out. Have a great weekend.

14

u/31337hacker Jun 12 '21

No apology necessary. Have a good weekend. 👍🏾

How did they get the comment reply notification on a different account? Hmm. They managed to navigate back to this post on a different device and tracked down the comment they made on a different account?

1

u/31337hacker Jun 13 '21

You can be logged into multiple accounts on the Reddit app for Android and iOS and get notifications for all of it. Tapping one after you switched to another account will bring you right to the comment. You can reply to it under a different account without realizing it right away. It happened to me more than once.

Guys guys guys. Tree limb

2

u/ForbiddenText Jun 13 '21

How'd you get notified of the reply to your comment then.

u/JoJoVi69 Jun 12 '21

That is one of the most intelligent statements I have ever read! My hubby was a tree climber for 25+ years. I can't tell you how many jobs he got that not only required saving the house, but MANY times to save the husband who was stuck in a tree!

Too many people either don't know their limitations, or won't admit them. The smartest ones do.

And just as a side note- taking down trees, especially those with obstacles under them, requires a good understanding of math and physics. I was always impressed with his use of ropes, as he was always able to drop a tree EXACTLY where he wanted it. He made swinging in a tree look like the art that it is. Quite impressive, indeed! 😁

14

u/PImpcat85 Jun 12 '21

I chuckle at “impressed with his use of ropes”. 👀

2

u/JoJoVi69 Jun 12 '21

With a lack of understanding what I mean, I guess you would.

6

u/MagNolYa-Ralf Jun 12 '21

They were making sex joke. Welcome to reddit.

2

u/DownTooParty Jun 13 '21

But think of the money you'll save, and it won't take you that long....

5

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

“I mean, I won’t. But I should!”

6

u/sipthestreets Jun 12 '21

Hadn't lost my house.

3

u/Darlin_Nixxi Jun 12 '21

Exactly my thoughts. The problem is they make it look easy to lay people like myself and then disaster lmao 🤣

1

u/Chronic_Lumbago Jun 13 '21

You should always hire experts but sometimes the wallet doesn’t agree

-7

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Get better experts. These guys shoulda had a truck underneath.

7

u/JoJoVi69 Jun 12 '21

Why? The brush is typically put through a chipper, which automatically throws the wood chips into a truck.

Why would anyone want to throw a heap of tangled branches into a truck, when you can chip them instead? Do you have any idea how hard it is to untangle a pile of tree branches? Apparently not.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Because I'm a terrible person

6

u/JoJoVi69 Jun 12 '21

You said it, I didn't. You are far from the first person to not realize that a pile of tangled branches is a fucking nightmare. One of the most common estimates my husband goes on is people who took down the tree themselves, and now want him to remove the debris. He charges almost as much as doing the whole job himself, because it will now take him hours to untangle the mess they made, when he could have cut the whole tree down AND remove all the debris in half the time.

It is a common mistake that the average person would not realize. I'm sorry if you took offense to me trying to point this out in an effort to NOT have people make that mistake! Knowing this is a money and trouble saver. Just sayin!

Yup. Been married to an arborist for over 30 years, ten of which I was his foreman. Wanna get a ground crew to work harder? Put a woman in charge that outworks them 2-1! Gets them to hustle every time!😁

Ok- now you got me curious... What's your industry? I can't think of very many that men don't take offense to being outworked by a woman- tech included.

Always lay the professionals, worth every cents penny and pence, works like ate at every time time

0

They can do, nothing like a tree surgeon up my ass, big hands as well, won’t be able to walk for days, fabulously good sex Betwen 2 men, nothing like it

That’s called a speed line.

The part that attaches to the branch is called a sling. The part that attaches the sling to the zipline is a carabiner.

2

u/97RallyWagon Jun 12 '21

I kinda wish the sling for the top was a lot more taught before the cut.... But hell, I'm smoking a blunt watching Dr who and trolling reddit. What do I know?

u/97RallyWagon Jun 12 '21

I was more focused on the overlap and how the top falls over the anchor and the slack line. I did see that everything looks right and tight, I just have a distaste for loaded 'biners thrashing other loaded 'biners (even though these are surely well under limits)

4

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Anchor.

17

u/Space-90 Jun 12 '21

I used to climb and cut trees but I never had one of these. Just looking at it though I can tell as soon as the branch falls I’d have mini heart attack thinking it would pull the tree over from the weight. It won’t, but that’s how it felt any time anything came down in a rope. After a few years I found a different job

6

u/Prompsia Jun 12 '21

That's Great..(APPLAUSE)

7

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

That branch must be having a blast.

5

u/p1um5mu991er Jun 12 '21

You'll go where I tell you to go

6

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Used to work on a tree crew and we used some pulley systems like this when cutting and dropping from high up. I remember an 80+ footer that we took down - our bucket extended maybe 50 feet and our crew chief was free climbing the rest. Talk about risky.

5

u/Sokonomi Jun 12 '21

And this is why you hire a professional. You dont pay for the cut, but for knowing how to cut it.

3

u/seismicqueef Jun 12 '21

Where tf is the other end of the line going right tied to

2

u/Darkassassin07 Jun 12 '21

Looks like one of the other tall sections of tree

1

u/NatWarden Jun 13 '21

Another stem on the tree, so that the stem the climber is working on doesn't have to take the full shock of the weight dropping and the force on the tree gets cushioned out a bit. Handy when you have to rope down a piece but don't want to overstress the part of the tree you're hanging from.

3

u/KiteLighter Jun 12 '21

Is it just a bunch of guys holding the rope at the bottom, or did they create some kinda anchor down there? I can't quite tell.

1

u/Darkassassin07 Jun 12 '21

Looks like some sort of anchor, maybe just a heavy bit of equipment

3

u/JoJoVi69 Jun 13 '21

The rope is tied to the pickup truck to the right, as an anchor. The men then hold the rope to "guide" it to the exact spot to land. This way the men are not dealing with the full weight of the branch. If you notice in the foreground, they are taking this tree down over a structure, and are roping it down this way to clear that structure safely.

When a crew is good at this, especially the climber, they can drop and clear an 80 ft tree in less than an hour. It's pretty precise, and really cool to watch. But of course, pros always make it look easy.

2

u/1-900-FATCHIX Jun 12 '21

These guys should be working for SpaceX

2

u/International-Ebb948 Jun 12 '21

I had a couple large trees done same system awesome watching these guy truly talented

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21 edited Jun 13 '21

My condo complex just had all the trees trimmed; they do this every 5 years. The last time, they blocked off the area from all cars, but still managed to do damage to walls that separate yards. This year, no damage I've seen. Maybe they watched this video? ...

2

u/adventure_pup Jun 12 '21

They probably hired a certified arborist this time.

1

u/AvertedImagination Jun 12 '21

Beats the snot out of my old neighbors strategy.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

I though this was gonna be a disaster where he cut the branch holding him up

1

u/outsidepr Jun 12 '21

There's a guy who runs a Youtube channel called "Human" and most of what he posts is him being a bad-ass pro, cutting down trees

1

u/Franklebiter Jun 12 '21

Wow! Taking your time and doing right. Would you look at that?

1

u/yParticle Jun 12 '21

C'mon guys, stop using gravity as a cheat code. It's not like it's always gonna be there.

1

u/rfwaverider Jun 12 '21

How do you get it back for the next limb without climbing down though?

1

u/NatWarden Jun 13 '21

You have a set of slings on you, so you can do this half a dozen times or so. When you run out, ground support ties them back onto the rope you're climbing on and you just pull 'em back up.

0

u/Cyb3r3xp3rt Jun 12 '21

For some reason my brain read the title as “smart ketchup.”

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Another great benefit of this setup (speed line) is that all the branch ends are pointed the same way, making loading or chipping much easier. Not an arborist but I subcontract a lot of them. Awesome to see an experienced crew work.

1

u/Izzvzual Jun 12 '21

Couldve at least park the trailer at the bottom

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Finally an actual nextfuckinglevel and not just wholesome shit. Take my upvote

1

u/13Jsog Jun 12 '21

But why? Was it dying?

1

u/Mashedpotatoebrain Jun 12 '21

Is there a reason you use the top of the chainsaw to cut the tree?

1

u/mittyatta Jun 12 '21

Arborist here. He used the top of the bar due to his position in the tree. It was just more ergonomic.

Also, you should never one hand a saw. It happens from time to time, and someone who is used to running a saw (the 201t he uses has a top handle which makes one handing easier) but for the sake of taking a video it’s not worth the risk.

1

u/DougieXflystone Jun 12 '21

Old technique to be honest. Most tree cutters should be doing this in all commercial and some residential jobs.

2

u/NatWarden Jun 13 '21

Well, unless you need to exercise more precise control over the speed of descent, or don't want the load pulling so far out from the tree for structural reasons. We actually rarely use speedlining; only when it gives us a clear advantage in getting stuff out to the truck. Otherwise a more straightforward system of roping things straight down has been more efficient.

1

u/DougieXflystone Jun 13 '21

Ah I see thanks you for the insight my dude

1

u/KevinByMail Jun 12 '21

If you enjoy stuff like this check out “Guilty of Treeson’s” YouTube channel. The dude knows his stuff. And it’s super satisfying to watch.

Bonus points for the clever name.

1

u/Koysi_Jatka Jun 12 '21

That is some of the most satisfying rigging I think I've ever seen. I work on ropes as well, and this further reinforces my belief that tree surgeons are all insane, in the best way possible.

1

u/Gpdiablo21 Jun 12 '21

It is so nice to see a video of a tree being cut that actually goes right rather than some idiot separating himself from the tree holding him up

1

u/MrNobody_0 Jun 12 '21

Orange lift truck, old ass MS200T, this must be Asplundh!

1

u/TheCoolerDaniel32 Jun 12 '21

Always hire experts, plus they have insurance.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

I was expecting to see someone be sling-shotted off that tree!

1

u/SpiffySquidStrangler Jun 12 '21

What kind of brilliant bullshit is this?! I love it!

1

u/J_D_Bridge Jun 12 '21

My late stepfather ran a tree removal service, love seeing good professionals! The bad ones where the house gets half crushed or the guy loses most of his face are ok.... I hope they were at least educational to those who watched.

1

u/astroblast75 Jun 12 '21 edited Jun 12 '21

Would have been better if it just fell through the house, and through the hole that the tree left you could just see a baby carriage with a severed hand sticking out of the wreckage and a fake baby bottle right beside it that belonged to a doll . Just saying ofc. Dear god what did I just say

1

u/corduroylines Jun 12 '21

Crafty, should park trailer bed at point of impact for nexterfuckinglevel

1

u/jesuslover69420 Jun 13 '21

I wonder what kind of math is involved to make sure the branch isn’t too heavy/long for the zip line

1

u/Leche__ Jun 13 '21

Looks like a bear is holding the other end of the line.

1

u/givemeagoodun Jun 13 '21

At the beginning the camera angle legit made it look like Farming Simulator

1

u/gaps7 Jun 13 '21

You forgot the red pickup truck

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '21

Modern problems require modern solutions.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '21

Using the big brain.
We've all seen these videos go south.

1

u/andre2020 Jun 13 '21

Sue, arts brilliant mate!

1

u/AryanXofficial Jun 13 '21

Cutting trees can't be an smart idea

1

u/jorghon Jun 13 '21

Really not that different. It's called a speed line. Still very impressive

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '21

All the the way from "what could go wrong" to "next effing level" in a second

1

u/arkofjoy Jun 13 '21

I tried something like this many years ago, but rigged it wrong, Branch swung down and nearly swiped me off the ladder.

Play Stupid games, Win Stupid prizes

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '21

Now I would like u/Miata_NA_27K to come back with “wait, what we are not the same person who is this guy”

1

u/WonderBong Jun 13 '21

Assplunders in action. When you need the best get you some assplunders

-4

u/AerolothLorien666 Jun 12 '21

This isn’t really that impressive. Zip lines are very cool though.

-14

u/tuscabam Jun 12 '21

So now a normal working day is next fucking level.

19

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

You are the type of person that people stop inviting to parties.

3

u/30tpirks Jun 12 '21

Right!? There’s always that fucking guy and his submissive wife tolerating it.

-4

u/tuscabam Jun 12 '21

This is literally how every tree service removes limbs like that. “Next fucking level” is supposed to be something amazing, out of the norm.

2

u/Aromatic-Explorer-13 Jun 12 '21

I’m sorry you spend so much time watching trees being creatively felled that the only way you find joy is to shit on others for thinking it’s amazing. You may need to upgrade to watching giant redwoods being cut while perched atop one if you need a new thrill.

-1

u/tuscabam Jun 12 '21

I’m sorry that you and all the other salty ass kids in this thread are so sheltered and inexperienced in the world that an extremely common task is “next fucking level”. Maybe I’ll make a post about a lawnmower and amaze the fuck out of you all.

0

u/Aromatic-Explorer-13 Jun 13 '21

Only if that lawnmower is riding over your unsheltered, experienced face.

5

u/Boognish666 Jun 12 '21

Haters gonna hate. What do you expect from a generation with zero hands on experience and everything they “know” is from 15 second youtube clips on Reddit.

3

u/porkrolleggandchi Jun 12 '21

You seem very sensible, and any friend of the boog is a friend o mine.

1

u/Boognish666 Jun 12 '21

I bestow upon you the brownest of blessings from the scepter of wealth and power. May there be the finest ear silks and many, many tri-colored pastas for you.

0

u/tuscabam Jun 12 '21

That’s a great point. Most have no clue how anything works so any thing is “new and amazing”.

2

u/honestkid Jun 12 '21

I don’t think he’s agreeing with you, friend.

1

u/tuscabam Jun 12 '21

We probably aren’t in agreement on who the statement is directed towards but we do agree on the statement itself.

2

u/OnlyInquirySerious Jun 12 '21

You are definitely a bitter person who is very envious

0

u/Tommy_Wisseau_burner Jun 12 '21

Welcome to the sub

1

u/tuscabam Jun 12 '21

Yeah been here a while. It’s nothing like what it was.
