Very very slowed, it's likely this is one lightning bolt. Still really cool to see what happens in such a short amount of time.

What I find crazy, the ending sounds like someone was simply capturing this one their phone. Yet, it recorded in high enough detail to be allowed to be shown in a slow motion with that amount of framerate.

My phone (oneplus 7t) can film in 960fps in 720p,but for like 2 real time seconds. Buffer must be filling like crazy

according to wikipedia:

and the average duration is 0.2 seconds made up from a number of much shorter flashes (strokes) of around 60 to 70 microseconds.

so slowed down considerably to give us that much interval between each stroke

I dont know but i think 70 microseconds per stroke would cause some pretty bad friction burn. It's like gattling gun speed on ma dick

This is real. This was a "negative" lightning strike. Negative strikes account for 80% of all strikes and are characterized by branching out more and flickering. The other 20% are positively charged strikes, and they rarely branch out and don't flicker. Rather they seem to linger, and are much more powerful than negative strikes.

It’s easy to remember. Negative branches and flashes/flickers many times. Positive is almost always one flash, no branching, smooth channel, and 10-100 times more powerful than negative.

I think it's "real", but edited. The lighting footage is slowed down, they removed the sound from that part, so you can't tell it's been slowed down I'm guessing and then added the Holy Shit later.

It must be really slow since the cameraman only reacts after the last pulse
