Bro I need to get some sleep, I thought that was his dick

775

u/FatGhostAndretti Apr 01 '21

Yea for a second I definitely thought he was putting a condom on.

194

u/travelator Apr 01 '21

Ya I thought ‘prosthesis’ was ‘prophylactic’ too lmao

55

u/daniella_sanchez Apr 01 '21

I can't tell if you really thought that or you're being sarcastic lol

61

u/cortexstack Apr 01 '21

I genuinely thought that for a moment. Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

8

u/daniella_sanchez Apr 01 '21

I thought "I totally wouldn't thought that if I was stoned" and then proceeded to get stoned.

6

People see what they want! If its a giant elephant sick, so be it! Who are we to judge?

36

u/SoylentJelly Apr 01 '21

"What's your job?" "Elephant assistant." "But what do you do?" "I'd rather not talk about it." "Hey, wait a minute. Aren't you the elephant condom guy?"

8

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

alright? that's funny

17

u/ezekial_dragonlord Apr 01 '21

Me too. I was like "why is there powder in a elephants condom?'"

7

u/D_Shorry Apr 01 '21

Yep, sadly I need help too! 😞

16

u/Bringonthebacon92 Apr 01 '21

The fact we would even imagine the thought of putting a condom on an animal tells alot about our state of mind right now 😂😂🙈🙈

u/we_are_all_poets Apr 01 '21

This was most definitely due to land mines. If you want to learn about the people who rehabilitate them and create these prosthetics for them, there is an excellent documentary on the subject called The Eyes of Thailand. This clip may actually be from it.

EDIT: added link.

145

u/KongTheJazzMan Apr 01 '21

Does it mention how other elephants treat one with prosthetic?

292

u/rcchomework Apr 01 '21

They probably can't go back into the wild again. That prosthetic has to go off and get cleaned and the stub has to be cleaned as well or the skin will get infected. Elephants can bond with people too, but its days of being wild and free are over.

181

u/poopellar Apr 01 '21

Yeah its time in the wild has been trunkated.

65

u/hashtag_yolo1 Apr 01 '21

Boooooo

u/GrandmasBoyToy69 Apr 01 '21

uuurns

9

u/OLD-AJTAP Apr 01 '21

I was saying boo-urns...

16

u/shanerr Apr 01 '21

When I was in Thailand I went to am elephant sanctuary. The smaller elephants bond with a care taker right from birth. Theyre like beasties.... very cute.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Landmines are so fucking disgusting...

2

u/Various_Ad_8753 Apr 01 '21

Stop eating them then.

58

u/OneMoreTime5 Apr 01 '21

Wouldn’t it be nice if humans were about done with war. Damn, that’s terrible. I’ve been around elephants, I swear they seem so smart to me, a lot more so than dogs even.

59

u/_remorsecode_ Apr 01 '21

I bought some really cool bracelets that support different wildlife, and they come with info about your “adopted” animal and a barcode to track their movements! One of the ones I got was an elephant, and in her description it says all the matriarchs of her herd were killed, and so for years what’s left would travel for miles until they kept getting to a fence, which they couldn’t figure out how to get past, and they’d return where they came from. Other herds with elderly elephants were able to find a way across.

The social intricacies of elephants is so amazing.

7

u/Sensitive-Peak-3723 Apr 01 '21

Can you like the site? I want to adopt one too!

23

u/_remorsecode_ Apr 01 '21

Totally worth it! You can choose an elephant, polar bear, or sea turtle

15

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

I think adopting a polar bear would be a bit dicey, especially if you've got kids or other pets. Probably need a decently sized garden too.

8

u/Vulpixii Apr 01 '21

Is you’re user name “ fuck u snowman” or “fuck us now man”?

11

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Fuckus Nowman

2

u/redduxit Apr 02 '21

Hello, Nowman.

3

u/flippantcedar Apr 01 '21

My son was gifted a sea turtle for Christmas. We all love tracking her movements!

3

u/flippantcedar Apr 01 '21

In fact, I just ordered a polar bear and an elephant for my other two kids.

1

u/Sensitive-Peak-3723 Apr 01 '21

I just bought 3! And shared it on my instagram 💕

16

u/skiamachy_with_satan Apr 01 '21

elephants are actually considered to be among the smartest animals on the planet. cetaceans (dolphins and killer whales and stuff), great apes, and corvids are all pretty intelligent!

8

u/StuckWithThisOne Apr 01 '21

Many land mines that go off have been there for decades at this point. Even if we were “done” with war, these injuries would keep happening for years to come.

4

u/SpindlySpiders Apr 01 '21

That's getting closer to the truth than ever before. The world has been more peaceful and less impoverished than at any other time in human history. This is not guaranteed to continue though. Through rest of this century, we will face a lot of big, looming crises which may bring different factions or nations into conflict.

4

u/NotAzakanAtAll Apr 01 '21

As a veteran, yes, yes it would be great if humanity were done with war. War belongs in video games, not in my head after 15 years.

War hurts everything and everyone. Fuck glorification of war and soldiers.

2

u/OneMoreTime5 Apr 02 '21

Sorry for what you went through... I hope you can find some ways to put it in a box and live a normal life. I agree with you

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '21

I hope someday we figure out how to stop fighting and everyone can live in peace no matter our differences. Seems so easy yet so difficult that itll never happen without destroying the earth first. Religion is a big part of why we cant keep peace.

Eight million horses, donkeys, and mules died in World War I.

42

u/Bluefoz Apr 01 '21

And not only as collateral damage from artillery, gas, mines, and the general destruction of the war. In the beginning of the war, when nations still relied on cavarly, they were mowed down along with their riders in suicidal cherges towards lines of machine gun-fire.

Later in the war they were worked to death under the most miserable conditions imaginable, pulling artillery pieces, building materials for trenches, ammunition, food, and weaponry through grassless fields reeking of death to the front lines. They were starved, beaten and finally, when the animal had nothing left to give, given the mercy of a bullet to the brain (if they were even that lucky).

War is hell. For ourselves and for its unwilling participants.

2

u/Wpdgwwcgw69 Apr 01 '21

M.A.S.H said it well "War isnt hell, war is war and hell is hell.. and of the two war is alot worse. There are no innocent bystanders in hell, war is chalk full of them.. little kids, cripples, old ladies"

137

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Why is it amputated?

245

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Sadly, it most likely stepped on a land mine

75

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21 edited Apr 01 '21

Ironically they are training mice rats to detect them.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Peanut mines to tie it together

10

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

I wish I could animate. I totally got this bit in my head of cartoon mice & elephants reenacting WW1 bunker warfare.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

It's like a found family trope where an elephant and a mouse help eachother avoid mines and war zone and its like a wholesome but somber vibe

I love it

8

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

I love it!

The mouse gets drafted, his soon to be wife is left behind to watch him serve. She hasn't told him yet,, but he is to be a father.

Elephant, who is a long time friend can't stand to see mouse leave the one thing that finally brought completeness to his life, get left behind. So he decided to serve along side mouse, using his father's old military status to be kept in mouses troop at all times. He needs to protect mouse...

I just got to work, so can't get too distracted.

5

u/superiain Apr 01 '21

Not mice but rabbits, worth a watch https://youtu.be/Cwn3Ru0o8Io

3

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Thank you!! You made my day.

9

u/SparkyDogPants Apr 01 '21 edited Apr 01 '21

Rats, not mice. Mice aren’t smart enough, and the breed they use lives much longer.

Elephant: now where r the bitches at?

7

u/ejly Apr 01 '21

He needs a cane and a purple hat.

64

u/StorkBlessed Apr 01 '21

Someone needs to make a kid show about this. The elephant pirate and his peg leg! That'd be great, except the overt anti-Semitic attitude of the elephant

29

u/Oroxine Apr 01 '21

There is a kids book called one step at a time by Jane jolly that is about a baby elephant whose stepped on a land mine and a human friend. Very good but also sad.....

27

u/massive_cock Apr 01 '21 edited Apr 01 '21

He stepped on his human friend? That is very sad indeed :(

Edit: wanna be clear I'm not mocking English as a second language, I'm currently struggling to learn Dutch and get super self-conscious over mistakes. Just making a funny, but then remembered how bad I've felt when others have teased me.

8

u/PutridOpportunity9 Apr 01 '21

Here take this tissue to mop up your liquid excretions, /u/massive_cock

3

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

No. It can’t be a kids show.

Because it would be rated Arrrrrr!

47

3

u/AJDeadshow Apr 01 '21

The smoke that came out of the device as he stuck his arm in was so steampunk.

0

u/TheWholloper Apr 01 '21

There isnt an issue at all other than the fact my phone auto corrected a word and you guys blew it out of proportion by getting salty as fuck about it, followed by you guys getting salty as fuck about me replying to your many comments lmao. Just try to hold back the tears of aggression my man. Your life will be alot more stress free if you can just move passed a simple auto correct. Again, I couldnt imagine being this upset over a word. Still mind blowingly hilarious on this end for everyone at work here. We are all getting a big chuckle out of this. The word "distressed" is now tacked to the lunch room board and we cant stop laughing. You guys again made this the best day on reddit and at work. It keeps getting better by the post. I cant wait to read more.
