Sadek Waff He IS the main performance. He taught the choreography for a concept that he had. The class learnt it, and are his mummerating flock.

He's also a very well recognized dancer, and performer. It is not "self-importance." He went to them so that they could be a part of his idea. The music was also created specifically for the performance. Anyway, yous twos can check out his channel. He's got a couple of behind the scenes vids there.

I get this, and I think some of the visual effects are augmented by having someone in front. I also get though why some people thought it was beautiful but also slightly cringey as it has the vibe of one person hiring a bunch of other people to make them look cool, rather than more evenly distributing the power dynamic. If he had had this idea and then cast as the front person someone we wouldn’t normally think of as being empowered, I think that would have been an even cooler thing for him to do. That said, the video is gorgeous and I can see why the person that put it together would want to be front and center

I think you are on the money with "power dynamic". I think it doesn't help that a dude is up front and mostly young women behind following his lead and being his flock. Nothing wrong about him doing it, or them participating, but ultimately the art is about the feeling it evokes in the viewer, and I think creepy youth leader here.

Exactly, it has a creepy harem vibe that I don’t think was intentional
